The guys who do the historical rosters do a good job. I will be interested to see what they can do on the PS4 with a more robust face editor and an increased library of stances swings and pitching deliveries.

Re: Histrocial seasons
I'm glad I asked the question, because I always thought the MLBPA owned the rights to former players. Now that I know the reality, it would impossible for SCEA to create a historical roster and turn a profit. So now we really need a franchise editor to correctly replicate a historical season. I definitely would put that on my wish list for next year. Also would love a player editor that allows us to enter stats for a player which SCEA can create into their player rating system.Comment

Re: Histrocial seasons
So, 30 years from now, could The Show upload their 2013 rosters for use in the "new game"?Comment

Re: Histrocial seasons
Nope, the rights for those players would have expired by then. Let's say Lance Berkman retires after the 2013 season, he would no longer be a part of the MLBPA and they could not include him in the 2014 game unless they reached a separate agreement with just him.Comment

Re: Histrocial seasons
I would totally be for them including classic players and a classic all star team (ala MVP 05 and Madden 13). Obviously they can't go the basketball 2k route because of how few bball players are on a team, but including legends like Aaron andMays and Mantle and Ruth would be cool. MVP 05 did it so I don't see why The SHow couldn't do it.Comment

Of course, the reason why SCEA doesn't do it is because of the licensing agreements that they would have to go through.Rangers - Cowboys - Aggies - Stars - Mavericks

Re: Histrocial seasons
I think it would be great if they would either include old schedules, or follow up on Knights idea of allowing you to edit your leagues for a season. The people who do roster edits do do a great job and trust me, it is a very time consuming procedure. I did it for a couple of years and though i never was confident enough to post, I liked the job I did. (Paticularly proud of my Jose Rijo). Including old schedules would probaly drain a lot of memory and other rescources, but if you could edit your league, even if you had to use a computer generated schedule, that would be just as cool. Then to avoid the rights fees just keep as it is now, w/ players you, (or a roster modifier) can modify, and it would be awesome. Still and I am only speaking for myself on this, the lack of uni options and stances and windups, and stadiums are to big of an issue for me to overcome. For example I started a '94 replay season w/ Knights roster. Roster was great, but I can't edit my league, which unto itself isn't the worst thing, but I can't use retired #'s, I can't use the proper uniform for the Nats (Expos,) or reds, the teams i wanted to play, and I had to use Rogers stadium for Riverfront, 3Rivers etc., and the Rays stadium for Olympic and the Astrodome.
Plus though the stances and wind ups isn't the issue it would be for a '70's roster ( when pitchers had more distinct and funky windups), it is still a bit of an issue. No way you are replicating Danny Jackson's wind up on the Show. I know all the current players need their exact motions and stances, but many of the generics really run together, and it seems like you could work 20 or so extra wind ups and stances each into the game. I know the stadium rights are in issue, but maybe instead of fake minor league stadiums, some fake stadiums with astro turf and pillars and bad sight lines that would make it easier to pretend. I'm not really trying to complain about the game, just from the vantage point of a gamer who just wants to do classics, I don't see a reason to buy this year. I get bored playing a current season, and there is to much pretending for me to do at my age.
Once again i know I'll be missing out on a great game, the developers always come through for us on that end, but for the first time since before The Show was actually The Show, I'm going to sit this one out. p.s. Sorry for the rant, i wasn't trying to say "Get Out of my yard!" just trying to put my two cents in and it got away from me. So sorry!Comment
