Re: MLB 13 The Show Video and Blog - Franchise Mode

Looks very promising. I like the focus on improving the meat & potatoes of a good franchise mode -- roster management, progression, scouting/development, access to info -- to compliment what was already a thorough representation of MLB operations.

just to be clear...ticker updates are for the virtual season and not the real life season, right?

I know it may still be a little off, but the players budget was only 92 million, the royals have gone as high as 78 in 2010 and thats only 40 man roster..in game its for all 90 players..

If you look at the screen, the Player Salary is at $91.88M and the Staff Salary is at $16.76M. Their payroll is only at $108.64M but they have room to add $12.61M.

I don't think staff salary is included in the MLB's luxury tax threshold which is what fans typically consider to be the teams payroll. The player salary in 2017 of $91.88M seems reasonable since they have a ~$75M payroll currently and some playoff runs could increase that budget in theory.

On another note, the number ratings are very odd to see in this game.

Re: (PS Blog) MLB 13 The Show’s Franchise Mode Gets Personal

            Great blog.

It seems at long last Franny mode really got the love its needed for a couple of years now.

The draft and in particular scouting strategy leading up to the draft takes on a whole new level of importance now.

Looking forward to tabarnes thoughts on this later.

Budgets are not 1-to-1 representations of the real MLB budgets.

I assumed so, others where concerned about the Royals having such a high budget, I was trying to explain why its not that inaccurate. The post below me said the exact same thing...maybe just more clear..I wasnt complaining

Looking forward to this game so much...wish we had "fake" rosters to start with until OSFM comes out..

That, but if he was asking about 1:33-1:37, those guys are free agents in the franchise and wouldn't have their photos anymore - they'd be replaced with the cyberfaces and an appropriate cap when they sign.

As for Wilson, since he's a real-life free agent right now I'm guessing that's why he has a photo + that MLB cap. Will probably change if he signs, but whether he'd have a photo or a cyberface remains to be seen.

The two screens you probably most saw that in was upcoming free agents where players were wearing free agent outfits and the fantasy draft at the very end. When a player is taken of their original game release team then they have a cyber face

Correct. Everything you see in the franchise ticker is within your virtual world... to differentiate, the left of the ticker will display the 'MLB13' badge.

However, real world info is displayed outside of any particular mode (basically, on the main game menu) - and any real life info will have the MLB logo next to it.

I don't think the FA pics were what he was talking about, but I get what you mean though. Also have to remember this video is a few years into franchise mode also which by that time most players may have a cyber face due FA signings or trades. This an early build though and we were already told everyone will have a picture to begin with as long as they were submitted on time.

I don't believe so, but on the team achievement screen with World Series, Cy Youngs, etc. ....... Any chance that updates during your franchise or maybe something that could in the future with more memory?
