Yeah what tips if any do you guys have to make sure minor league players progress as they should. Right now i am the Pirates about 100 games in and hoping guys like cole, taillion progress as they should. I downloaded a prospect roster that has them about 78 over with A potential. However, i have them both in the minors and they arent pitching as well as i would have hoped. Both have about 4 eras. However most of my mlb sp does as well including a Roy Halladay who i traded for. Is the game just meant to be a hitters game and not have alot of dominant sp or am i doing something wrong. How can i insure that players with A potential live up to hype, or is it just alot of luck?

So just tips or stories if any, with how you go about progressing your youth to best they can be.

Re: MLB 13 - The Show: Franchise Playing Tips

I was really against simulating games when playing franchise/dynasty in sports games. Meanwhile, I also want to advance at least 6-7 years in my franchises.

It is impossible to do it with a baseball game. I mean 162 games? Come on. You have to play in full focus all the time, because runs are scored part of sequences and many times they are scored in bursts. One bad inning can cost you the game, and it is not like giving a touchdown in football or a 10-0 scoring run in a basketball game. I mean the window for slacking is just too small.

Surprisingly, I'm ok with simming games when it comes to Show. Instead of playing 1 game and simming 5-6 (whatever), I prefer to play series. Studying the opponent and trying to beat them in total count is more immersive. I play a few series until the all star break (10-12 games) and after that, I play the series against my divisional rivals for the play-off race. That way, the games you play actually ''mean'' something and you feel involved.

If I were playing with a team who has no shot winning the division, I would play less games (I assume). Play random series, especially late in the season with to get a feel about the players I have called-up, trades I made etc.

Questios: if I control all teams but set 29 to auto, keep budgets on and allow force trades......1. Will it allow me to execute trade putting team over budget still? 2. Will the ai correct this over budget even if it isn't till offseason?

I don't think even with force trades on, you can push a team over budget, not 100% sure though, will test it soon as my system updates and the patch installs.

              So I was sorta right.

If you have it as 1 team control (or however many, but are trading to a team that you will have NO control over their decision) with force trades on, they will reject a trade that puts them over budget, it will still say "they are considering the offer, and will reply in a few days" but they will decline it. I tried to trade Cano to a number of teams for a scrub nobody, and they rejected it. However they would do it for someone making close enough money to not put them over the cap.

If you have 30 team control (or are trading to a team that you have "control" over) you can indeed, by going to the teams involved, and looking at their pending trades and approving them, put teams over budget.

I don't have time right now to test "instant trades" on or off, and a couple other variables, but when I get a chance to, I will.

              Hope this helps.

I hate to sound like a noob but what does OSFM stand for? I see it all the time and I hear the Rosters are great but I don't know what OSFM means.

Re: MLB 13 - The Show: Franchise Playing Tips

This game and Knight's rosters are so good that I'll play it well into football season, with a focus on developing young talent.

To that end, I play several games in a row early to get a sense of my roster, and from there, I sim anywhere from 3 to 5 games and take on a more managerial role. During that time I tend to roster issues in the majors and minors, examine stats, and take a look at FA signings and trades. I don't feel cheated by doing that, since I'm still active in the running of the franchise, and I'm allowed to get way more games in as a result.

For the games I do play, I typically try to play with starters I like, and if there's a stadium I hate, like TOR, I sim the whole series. If I play 2 games a week I feel fine as far as immersion goes.

I think that's the best way to get mileage out of the game. If I'm out of contention, I will also sim more games and just manage the rosters and stats to prepare for next year.

I play 1 game in and then skip 5. Allows you to go through the whole rotation each time and I'm not a huge baseball fan so I let the CPU handle the roster and all of that. I just don't understand the sport enough to do it like I would in NBA 2K or Madden.

I know in RttS there is the issue with inflated stats due to uneven progression between hitters and pitchers as years go on. Does this plague franchise as well? If so how many years does it take?

This is a good idea... I usually just play 5 games a month, 1 with each starter
It helps me get really far into my franchises (i usually end up being GM lol)

Now that I'm close to the ASB and the division race is getting really tight, I'm playing more games until I can tell which way things are going to go. I think it's fun to put the onus on the user in tight race situations.

Other than that, I've also been going with the sim 4-5. There's a guy or two on the rotation that I don't like to pitch with, so I always make sure the CPU gets to use those guys

Re: MLB 13 - The Show: Franchise Playing Tips

                                Hi All,
First post here and since I can't make a thread, this thread seemed like te closest thing to being relevant to what I'm going to ask. If anyone who can make a thread wants to copy paste this into a new thread, I wouldn't mind that. Anyway, on with the purpose of the post!

The 25 and under Dodgers franchise team

I was looking into making a roster for the dodgers to play franchise mode with that was all rising stars/stars/impressive players that are 25 years old or younger.

My self imposed rules are as follows:
                                1. must be 25 or younger at the beginning of the season
                                2. must be either a rising star in real life, or a proven young top player. so that leads to some people not being highly rated but are destined to be
                                3. if they are already on the dodgers and meet the age requirement, they stay on the team (like Paco Rodriguez, chris withrow and now Jose Domingez since he was finally added)
                                4. stronger candidate for the team if they made the allstar team this year
                                5. can also have been a rookie last year and made the allstar team or won any kind of special title
                                6. need to cover the positions properly, no forcing anyone to play a spot they don't normally play (Mike trout is not going to be redesignated as a shortstop, but he could play any outfield location)
                                7. pitchers are preferably strike out pitchers (Nolan Ryan is my favorite pitcher.) since pitching is my favorite part of this game.
                                8. Overall awesomeness is great for position players, but if they're beastly at their defense (in real life or in the game) and decent at batting that works since not everyone needs to be a super power hitter since I'm terrible at batting and I find batting to be the least fun anyway

I know this pretty much makes an allstar like team, but like I mentioned above, I'm not a good hitter so it doesn't make much difference unless everyone all of a sudden has a great game at once...then the score kinda skyrockets.

so with those rules in mind, I gave it a shot and I'll list my first attempt below. I'm open to other people's ideas for roster changes and batting order and would like to see what other people's take on this would be.

position players (by original lineup order I tried)

                                CF - Mike Trout
                                RF - Yasiel Puig
                                C - Buster Posey
                                1b - Goldschmidt
                                LF - Bryce Harper
                                3b - Manny Machado
                                2b - altuv
                                ss - castro

Bench players/subs Dee Gordon for infield, Justin Upton for outfield, couple random minor league guys already on dodgers (probably fake names)

                                rotation
Kershaw - Dodger and just so happens to be a strikeout pitcher
                                Strasburg - strikeout pitcher
Sale - didn't know about this guy til allstar game but high k rating ingame
                                Harvey - same as above
Bumgarner - think I chose him because I know of him and he's done well

Long relief/backup starter - Hyun-jin Ryu and a couple guys I don't recall their name at the moment. Matt moore was in there until I tried him out and pitched terrible with him, so I gave him back and grabbed the first reliever listed below instead.

                                relievers (that I can recall...)

                                mrp drew Storen
                                mrp neftali Feliz
                                mrp chris withrow
(jose Dominguez would be here if he existed when I made this originally)
                                SU - Paco rodriguez
                                SU - kenley Jansen
CP - Aroldis Chapman (I like fastballs....but probably shoulda chose the guy on the braves)

so what do you guys think? any roster changes/additions or batting order changes you would make?
