Re: MLB 13 The Show Impressions Thread

On the subject of pitch speed, I'd rather adjust to the new speed because it has improved my ability to take pitches, I'm seeing a realistic number of walks.

I've been hitting the cages to get the timing down. It might take a while.

I just play one of the most exciting games so far, My fantasy draft as the Houston Astros tied 4 to 4 and the 14th inning. The Rangers take the lead in the top of the 14th I'm down by one, Bottom of the 14th inning with one out I hit a double with Brett Lawrie, He's moved over by a ground ball so now I third with two outs. JJ Putz on the mound I pinch-hit for a Aj Ellis. Kirk Nieuwenhuis comes on and it's a two run bomb to win the game on HoF!

Well I would of won my first game against the twins. But the last out was a fly ball to Adam Jones and i thought I was camped out under it but I wasn't lol. the ball fell right behind him for a rbi triple. I lost in extras lol

Also I am not a fan of how late the guess pitch indication occurs.

I really don't like the Guess Pitch mechanic anyway (I really wish they'd institute the MVP Hitters Eye).

From the sounds of things, the pitch speed is so slow I can actually tell if it's a breaking ball or not. I hope that's the case.

So I've played a few more games, and I am really impressed so far. I've only gone up against aces, so I've struggled to plate runs but am getting plenty of hits.

Steve Lyons brings a breath of fresh air to the commentary; and, although it's kind of stale, it's not bad. What I mean is the commentary in Madden with Gus Johnson and Collinsworth was awful, I didn't like hearing it at all. But in MLBTS it's okay.... not bad not good.

I've also played my first few games in RTTS. I've always liked the idea but found in past games that it was a little boring. So far I've really enjoyed it and must say it's easier to play. I've turned the throwing meter to "no feedback" because it makes it a little harder, and takes away that bulky thing! So I've made a few errors which keeps it interesting.

Very impressed and very excited for it to go "live"

Re: MLB 13 The Show Impressions Thread

just did my first Fantasy draft. I was using Toronto and had the 17th pick...here is my lineup

              CF - Carlos Gomez
              2B - Dustin Ackley
              3B - Chase Headley
              1B - Albert Pujols
              LF - Bryce Harper
              DH - Carlos Lee
              SS - Jed Lowrie
              RF - Brennan Boesch
              C - JP Arencibia

CPU did a much better job of picking younger talent vs older players once about round 7 or so. I still think there were plenty of young talent on the board as you can see by my team. I drafted Harper round 5.

Agreed. After 5 or so games against aces I'm starting to get the timing down and not striking out as much. And again I agree on the walks...If I didn't swing at so much junk in my first handful of games I would average about 3-4 walks a game, easily.

Seeing the newer hits like low drives to the gaps and slicing singles adds so much to the game...it feels like the ball isn't so heavy when traveling through the air. Also seeing certain batters hold their follow-through after a nice hit is a new addition that was much needed and very well done.

One little thing that disappointed me a little bit, I opened on the road and the whole new opening day presentation was awesome, I wont' spoil it. But I was excited for my home opener, but nothing happened. I kind of wished they had another presentation.

Got to play a few more hours today and all I can say is this game is really extremely polished in all levels. Again graphics are so clean and detailed is the best I have seen in a sports game. Played a game Mets @ Braves and Turner Field just looks fantastic.

The hitting aspect is beautiful, I didn't want to stop playing tonight. I actually fair better today offensively but it really depends what team you have and who you playing against. The pitching also is a thing of beauty, the motions are true life like and mechanics. For example I pitch with Indians Trevor Bauer (sorry DBack fans lol) and he gave up 6 runs in 5 innings vs Blue Jays. He was all over the place. Again ratings do matter I feel more than ever.

I can't wait for official release day so I can read what you all think of the game!

Being a uniforms guy for the MVP series and the 2K series, I just wanted to give SCEA San Diego a special thank you for taking what I thought was just a small little suggestion on their official forum about their Diamondbacks throwback uniforms and seeing my request fulfilled. I love those uniforms and I'm excited to see that they're represented as accurately as possible in the game.

Gotta love a company that takes into account all the little things

I actually took a look at Bauer's mechanics in the game and I thought they were okay, but not quite nailed on. He didn't seem to have the sharpness to it I'd expect. Maybe it's just me.

There's quite a lot in terms of new mechanics though, very impressive. Still no Josh Collmenter, I don't think I can use Grant Balfour's for another year.

I can't believe a game has me excited to hit regular singles. Its just the way they present it altogether. How the ball slices, the hitters finishing on their followthroughs...Goodness, I can't wait to start my fantasy season games tomorrow(did the draft tonight).

Doing exactly the same "hitting the cages". On almost all my hits i get the
early message, or farly early. Do you guys think that the pitch speed is the same as in mlb12.
