Re: MLB 13 The Show Impressions Thread
Whats the easiest way to update my tribe roster? This game is amazing, but Cleveland's roster is not right out of the box and you can't get online right now through the game.Comment

Re: MLB 13 The Show Impressions Thread
I moved the speed slider to 6 and had a long battingcage sesion at all-star level. Had about 7 good timings and about 15-16 pitches that i hit fare. So i stick for a while at speed 6. Thanks!Comment

Re: MLB 13 The Show Impressions Thread
After spending some time in the batting cages whilst trying to get the timing nailed down, I predict that we will see a lot more contact-swing homers this year.
To help focus on making contact, I outlawed the power swing for myself, but have still had no trouble putting the ball over the wall. It's only in BP, obviously, but the parks are the same size.Comment

Re: MLB 13 The Show Impressions Thread
I only use contact and defensive swings and have never had a problem getting the ball out, with guys that should.
So after spending the weekend playing some games and getting a feel for the game, I am really impressed with the ball of the bat. I am seeing more variety in balls put in play and it is fantastic.Moderator

Okay, here is an early negative observation, I have seen less of the SHO motion so far. I love the 'shomo' and hope to see an increase in future games.
To piggyback on what I mentioned about the ballparks earlier in this impression thread...you should take a tour of all the baseball parks in The Show this year. I have played in about 12 so far, and each one looks fantastic!!
Love the DP's this year. Feels completely reworked visually, animation additions, runner and fielder influence etc.Comment

Agree N51_rob. I am almost at the point of feeling guilty with all the enhancements in every area of the The Show this year, thinking I should be posting a negitive comment now and then to offset my enthusiam.

I'm glad you mentioned this.
Chris and...well Chris...worked on the animations a lot this year.
You should be seeing it in OF play as well(both USER and CPU)

Re: MLB 13 The Show Impressions Thread
One thing I don't like about the new fielder throwing mechanic. Even flips in the infield require you to fill the meter halfway (at least on legend) and thus take longer than they should.Comment

Re: MLB 13 The Show Impressions Thread
One thing I remember telling everyone when we got back from CD is you have to pre-load extra early with this mechanic because the desired accuracy is in the middle of the meter.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: MLB 13 The Show Impressions Thread
I would love to see even more commentary. I love the little tidbits that they mention during exhibitions games based on stadiums, players and uniforms. I hope that there is more of that within franchise mode. I have heard the usual about streaks, and numbers put up so far. I love that and hope that continues to grow and grow. IMO you can never have enough commentary. I wouldn't mind the eventual inclusion of the field reporter to add some facts between innings or whatever.
Also, wanted to tip my hat to the team. Last season the orioles added a restaurant are in CF at the top of the ivy field. This year that was added to game.Moderator

Re: MLB 13 The Show Impressions Thread
When you replied to my double play observations, I started thinking about the Franchise mode. I just started a 'practice' franchise today, until the famous and #1 OSFM rosters are available. (thanks Knight, Kingsbury, seanjeezy and all the other OS members who contribute).
I control all teams with a profile for me ( this yr the Cubs and Yankees) and 1 for the rest of the league. First thing I noticed after I simmed ST to start the regular season, was I had to do miminal 25 man house keeping roster adjustments, compared to earlier versions of The Show. I was mainly looking at the Cubs/Yanks.
Franchise is all I play once OSFM rosters are available.
Another note on the revamped FastForward screen. (great addition) I mentioned earlier that the default speed is fast, but once you change to slow or medium, it will continue at the new pace you select even when you exit, and return to the FF screen. Nice!Comment

Re: MLB 13 The Show Impressions Thread
Quick recap:
I'm a CFW user so I've had this game for PS3 since Saturday night. I can assure you, this is probably the most enjoyable Baseball game I have played since MVP 2005. The presentation improvements alone have exceeded my expectations. I pitched a shutout with Santana and you could imagine my surprise to find a post game interview with a crew coming out to talk to Santana after the win.
If your a heavy user of most the custom sound of shows we have on the forums here, You'll be happy to know that most of the files make a seemingly positive transition to 13 easily. My only suggestion to future sounds of the show users would be to normalize the volume of your mp3's for a slightly louder sound because the crowd is very loud and very animated this year.
