Re: MLB The Show 13 Stuttering Thread
The thing that make me feel this isn't the case is that people have reported to see the stutter when they disabled their network connection. I have as well. But maybe its just the act of the game tying to send/receive data that causes it and not the actual data transfer itself.
I haven't been playing that much though so my sample size is small, maybe it has some affect. The rebuild database definitely did not do the trick for me and uninstalling all my content is not an option. I am not going to redownload 60-100 GB worth of games and install them again off PSN. If the issue is related to data on the HDD then something needs to be done to resolve the issue on the game end as other games do not have this problem. Like nomo said it happens in such an isolated case. (although in other instances as well, batter walkup, menus, etc). But it does not seem to be random.
Rebuilding database is just a generic solution to make seeking data on disk more efficient, so you will expect general improvement.
I have basically pretty new PS3 (got near the end of December), pretty much only thing I've done is to install a few games, and not too much playing, so I don't think defragmented files is my own problem.... at least not a major cause.
I played online for the first time on 13 last evening, and the first game started kinda laggy, in a way that the it stuttered periodically... and I saw this exact same on-pitch-release stuttering many times (to the extent that I wondered why the opponent didn't ask to quit... I play through all but few games myself... just my policy, through the fire, to the limit, to the wall...).
..... don't know if you play online often, but if you play a lot of games you notice that there are different kinds of lagging... sometimes the game overall is just not as responsive, like input lag, but other times, there are more periodic frame rate issues happening at a few seconds interval. I saw way more on-pitch-release stuttering with the game that had the latter type of lagging.Comment

Same, launch PS3, connected to PSN, pretty sure connected to Media Servers, have the menu music stutter, but so far in game, I haven't had any.

Re: MLB The Show 13 Stuttering Thread
I had a launch ps3 and was able to play 4 games stutter free. Then it got the yellow light. Have winced switched to my new slim and have had 1 stutter a game at least.
On the slim I did a ps3 rebuild, and have since only had the stutter during music play and the catcher resetting his position. No pitch release stutter.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 13 Stuttering Thread
I haven't had too much of an issue with pitch stuttering, but from the menus, to in-game overlays to the overall gameplay, MLB 13 seems alot more "laggy" than MLB 12. For example on ground balls where you throw across the diamond, it's like the game is trying to "catch up" and it causes a "laggy/stuttering" feel."The best thing about being a football player at Alabama...winning...winning." -Mark Barron

Re: MLB The Show 13 Stuttering Thread
Hi guys, I think I have figured out what is causing the stuttering issue in this years game.
I started to play around with game settings, and nothing seemed to help. Every game I had 5-10 pitch stutters, and I had stutters when making a putout, especially when throwing the ball to 1st base, sometimes when striking out the oppo batter. Turned off the internet connection, every presentation setting and nothing seemed to help.
Today I decided to watch some CPU vs CPU games. Interestingly, there was no pitch stutter in any of them. No putout and strikeout stutter at all. Still had the cutscene stutters, but I think It's related to music and sound effect problems.
Why do I think, that the new XP system and Universal profile is causing the stutters? When you play I think every move you make, every pitch you see is logged in the background and this is causing the hickups in the gameflow. When the CPU is playing agains the CPU the is no logging, because there is no +XP info after the innings. There is no XP stuff in batting practice, where I have never had one stutter before.
I'm pretty sure, that the DEVs already figured this out, so it might be no time, we get a patch. If nothing helps, just disable the feature for an immadiate fix, then enable it, when it's implemented correctly.
Have a nice day!Comment
