Well I just had it stutter again in a close game and it cost me multiple at bats. I'm done till and if it's fixed, pretty pissed this game was my motivation to get a PS3 but I guess I'll have faith.

Last thing I'll say is how the hell did this come out of quality control? The music in the menu skips right as soon as the game starts up. Also the stuttering in game stuff happened the third game for me.

You guys got the grandma's boy crew testing the game over there?

My question is how they could not see this issue in house. It literally took my two minutes to notice the pitching hitch. Two minutes. Did they not put the game into a PS3 and play one game before they said, "yeah. It's good to go." I just don't understand how these issues can make it to retail.

Considering they had pre-release patch that fixed around 100 bugs they caught after the game was done, I think it's safe to say they did play a few games.. It's entirely possible that they didn't see it on there systems as you can see some don't experience it at all. I haven't had a stutter that effected gameplay but I have had the music stutter in the menus and I use a PS3 Phat with the original hard drive it came with while they use PS3 Slims so it's not like it's a hardware related issue. Besides bugs are random, most bugs I hear about in games I own/played I've never experienced myself. If they didn't see it, then they did not know about it. Don't believe there is enough time during the dev cycle to send the game out to Game testers to find every bug possible. xD

I hear you and that's reasonable but it's not a needle in the hay stack kind of a bug. It's right there right in the middle of the game, I just find it hard to believe someone at the studio didn't see this.

With that said I do have hope they'll fix it.

Logically that wouldn't make sense to not include a fix for the sutter in the pre-release patch but again I'm not really in the habit of believing devs but usually SCEA are upfront when it comes to these things. I experienced the stutter in game in last years title so I get the frustration but all the negativity being thrown at them for something they may very well not have known about is kind of silly to me as they always have issues at launch, takes a patch or two before everything is at a happy medium. Again understand it, just silly given their track record and I am aware it's worse than last years.

In this day and age of tech, it's hard for us to pinpoint the root cause on our end...is it the hardware or the software? Either way, at the end of the day, I believe that the Show pushes the PS3 to the edges of its ability to perform - not in terms of graphics - but in terms of the PS3 blue ray drive's ability to process/rotate the disk and its information as the disk spins inside it.

I've played a lot of games on several models of the PS3 with many variables - on line, offline, lots of storage space, little space, etc...but the one constant is that unlike any other game, when I play the Show, the PS3 runs louder and hotter than when any other PS3 era game is in the blue ray drive. The only thing comparable (in terms of heat and noise) to the PS3 running the Show has been my Fatty 60gb BC PS3 running PS2 and PS1 disks. Heck, I only play the Show in my Slim because if I play it in the Fatty, the Fatty gets too loud and hot.

And for me the stuttering (going back to The Show 09) has always been with two or more runners on base and me at bat (especially if the runners are at the corners with the little windows up...and don't let it be a night game).

So again, while I think it's difficult for us to say what percentage it is the software's fault vs. the hardware's fault, one thing I think is certain is that the Show's blue ray content really pushes the PS3's horses under the hood to the point where some systems just can't completely handle the game.

Couldn't it be the pre-patch brought the stutter?!

That could explain the fact they (and CD members) never saw this before.

You may forget. They had to test the patch before they released it.

I'm playing manage mode in my first game franchise and I have stutter. But not when the pitcher releases the ball. I get it everywhere else sometimes. Throw from outfield back to infield. Cut scenes. Batter walk up.

I've been really fortunate to not have seen the stutter yet.
If I had been as afflicted as others, I would probably not play any games
until a patch fix, & just do a little roster work instead

this what i have been doing, i really like the game, and i'm not taking it back to the store, to get half of what i paid for,but for right now, ill work on rosters until this is fixed, i mean its not just happening in online,rtts,or exb, even in the challenge of the week and batting practice, its in all aspects of batting, so maybe it will be fixed soon, if not i'll wait patiently and play my other games and just work on rosters.

Before release there are a lot of eyes on this game. You have the testers in another building, another level of testers within the studio, the group at CD and the developers themselves who are playing the game. There was not a hint of stutter or talk about it. Obviously there is a perfect storm going on in the game that is causing the issue. The biggest variable is the PS3 itself, we know they all are not created equally and some are in the beginning, middle and end of their life cycle. I am sure things can be addressed game side but it also has to work on your lowest common ps3 denominator out there as well.

You are wrong. This would mean, that people with stock HDD do not have stutters. I have a stock HDD and I have the stutter.

They should have tested the game properly...

What frustrates me the most is the lack of conversation about this issue from the DEVs. We all know, that Ramone is here, he is reading these posts, and he does not comment on it. The game is out for almost a week now, and all we now is the investigatin of the issue is in progress.

I think they do not want to admit, that they have made a mistake, because it would hurt the sales of the game...

I have the ps3 20gb, one of the first out in store. I am not having any stutter at all ( fingers crossed).

This game should work on the average PS3, i.e. 80-90% of the PS3's out there. To think one should have to worry about hard drive types or how new a PS3 is to play this game properly is absurd. If they can't get this game to play right on the vast majority of PS3s then they have not done their job properly. Let's just hope the issue can be resolved. Otherwise I suggest they put a warning label on the game saying "Game not optimized for most PS3s. Good luck with your purchase."
