Disabling it how is that done and what does it effect and used for??

Oh, also restore the file system. If there are any corrupt files on your HDD this will resolve that issue.

From the XMB, go to network settings, the bottom option is "media server connection", it is on by default, make sure it's disabled.

P.S.- what it's used for is for your PS3 to communicate with your PC for streaming media, whether you do stream media or not, while playing games it's much better to disable it.

No way that some of you who say you see nothing wrong are being honest. This is happened for the 3rd straight year.

The game has a bug that allows that freeze for a split second stutter when you hit only.

It happens to all my friends who have the game and it happened to me last year. This year I am in my first game and have yet to see it but there is a stuttering issue when throwing to first.

Not as smooth as last year for sure.

Gaming, just try the safe mode restore file system, and disable media server connections then compare. It absolutely can have been an issue for a few years if these steps haven't been tried. Sometimes it's like maintenance for your PS3 and HDD.

One other thing to try is google how to put the ps3 into safe mode, and use the "restore system file' tool.

I have the original slim, and have NEVER had a stutter, in any game. Matter of fact, i'm amazed at how SMOOTH MLB 13 has been, like straight butter.

I have never noticed the stutter, and like you I have that media server connection off.

May be coincidence though or I just not seeing it.

I still think ....from past experience....it's the connection to the internet.
The game looks to load info from different places(MLB.com is one) and it hangs while doing it.
I see it all the time in the main screens and once in a while in games in '12.
                  If I disconnect....nothing. No stutter.

As someone suggested....for someone having the problem...try rebuilding and disconnecting and see if that is the root of the issue.

The menus in 12 always stuttered for me unless I disconnected from the internet.

And a safe mode "restore file system" will check, and correct, if necessary any corrupt files that could be problematic. Hope this helps.

Re: MLB The Show pitching stutter

I've had the game for a day, played a few complete games + an inning or 2 here and there... I haven't seen this stutter happen. Not even once. Pretty confident I would notice lag from the pitcher considering I don't play the game offline nearly as much as I play online.

Now I'm not saying this isn't an issue. It's just not an issue for me. A few others aren't seeing it either, we can't all be lying. I also take offense to that comment and that's why I decided to contribute to the discussion. Not sure if this makes a difference but to the guys having this issue, is your PS3 displaying in 720 or 1080p? I play The Show on 720p and then switch it back to 1080p for everything else. Can't hurt to check. Also I have the media center disabled like others here have suggested.

This could be a culprit in some instances as well.

                            720p is the recommended setting.
