Not really usefull since it's very clear it's the most random occurring bug ever for almost everyone that's experiencing it.

They have already found the cause of the issue. They said it here, than nothing happened...

It seems, that They want to fix as many issues as possible and wait for a path some more weeks. This is why they let us down, because they should have had come out with a patch for the stutter, because it is GAMEBREAKING ISSUE! As for me, I cannot play the game until it's fixed, and it really angers me, that I have spent 60 dollars for a faulty product, that I can't use right now.

The patching process on consoles is not as simple as it is on other platforms, like steam. Its been said before on here so I won't go repeating all the details. But simply there are numerous restrictions on patching console games, this is why patches are held off until many issues can be fixed at once. Its just business and sadly it has caused a lot of issues for smaller/indie devs.

Once they get enough of the issues ready to go they'll release a patch. Last year the first major patch was in like mid April last year, right? I just hope they really did figure out the issue and this will finally be rid of forever. Its beginning to be a deciding factor in some of the online games I've player, both in my favor and my opponents.

I thought being an in house game that there were no restrictions on how many times they patch etc. but I could be wrong.

Then again all I read was they said it wasn't the game causing the problem so it's possible they haven't figured out the cause?

Now that was just one game, but it does show me playing on an SSD appears to be better. The other difference is first time I downloaded I selected all and it ran pretty much automatically. This time, stock PS3 hdd, I had to select each download independently. I am inclined to believe the SSD could make a difference in how the game runs off the digital version, but there have been others with mechanical hdd that haven't had the stutter issue, though I'm not sure they also included cut scenes.
did you get a SSD or a hybrid drive? which model?

It's an Intel SSD, 330 series.

I can definitively say that stutter for me is practically non-existent when I have Guess Pitch turned off... but then as soon as I turn it on I get stuttering again. I even tried turning it on then off then on again on successive pitches. The results were unmistakeable.

Perhaps it's some sort of memory leak issue. Where it's not exclusively caused by any one individual thing, but instead just that if you have too many of these particular things enabled, it causes stuttering?

thanks. i may finally go ssd. between this and GT5 it should be worth it. ive been on a 7200 rpm 16mb drive for a few years now. i know for a fact it was an improvement over the stock drive.

SSD drive isnt really worth the price point for the "improvements" one would see on the ps3. Install times and load times are cut by a few minutes and a second or two, respectively and there is no real improvement during gameplay (save for the placebo effect.)

With the cost of HDD and SSD, I would not recommend getting a SSD in hopes of improving gameplay - and I have more reason than most to get a SSD for my console. Every single game I run is straight from my HDD, I use no discs. HDD speed makes a minimal difference in the PS3 - and I have a 1TB 5400 rpm drive that's near full to capacity with games.

I don't use guess pitch so what else would you suggest that I could turn off to help?

this is not true. ssd makes a huge difference with GT5. if it works for MLB too that's enough for me. totally worth it

Another advantage with SSD is silence and temperature. SSDs run cooler and that's better for the PS3.

Probably nothing, and it's not your fault. It's SCEA's. When it occurs it makes hitting literally impossible. I cannot believe they shipped the game as is.

Not to hijack this thread into a SSD discussion, but just to add to what's been said... One drawback to the ssd is the PS3 does not support TRIM. From what I've read, no TRIM support will shorten the life of an SSD, which already has a limited lifespan (so many read/writes). Also, without trim the SSD will start to slow down over time.

That said, you can get a good 120 gig ssd nowadays for a decent price, so it still might be worth it. Just remember, for games which use the bluray you will see limited improvements in load times. But it varies from title to title. Also, I found install times did not really improve at all, which surprised me. Even with the full download version of the Show 13 which installs directly from the drive. Apparently it has to do with the limited write speeds of ssd's on the ps3.

Where you will see the biggest performance increase is with digital content installed directly to the hard drive. I ran some comparisons with the show 13 and it cut load times nearly in half. Loading times for a rtts/exhibition game took around 23-24 seconds using my standard 5400 RPM drive and around 11-12 seconds on the SSD. Exit times were also cut in half. This is a big help if you play a lot of rtts games.

One other thing. the PS3 is limited to 1.5 Gb/s data transfer rate, so you really don't need a top of the line ssd. You can get a 120 gig Samsung 840 (non pro) for around $100. Or find the cheapest you can get. Samsung, Crucial, and Intel are all good choices.

It makes a difference in load times, which is what I stated. There's no true impact on in-game performance past load and install times and there's plenty of tests that have been run to support that claim (I have also tested it personally with one of my SSDs.)

By all means, if you want to put one in your PS3 feel free - just trying to help others make informed decisions. If you play one of the few games with mega texture streaming (RAGE and BRINK being the main culprits) it's a boon to upgrade your HDD, but even then a hybrid drive is your best bet as it performs just as well as the SSD.
