Ugh. This is not the forum I expect to be first hearing news like that from.

Cubs were already projecting .500 or a little below, and that isn't going to help.

To answer the OP: Of course!

Garza feels tightness every day now, along with minimizing his trade value everyday.

Not sure I concur there. Vogelbach has big power and an adequate hit tool, but has limited speed and defensive utility. He may be a first-division starter but 1b prospects have to REALLY hit to be worthwhile.

Jackson is a 2nd division starter (which he would be on a team like the Cubs) or a 4th OF on a good team. He has a lot of OK tools, but none of them are big time. (to me he is a young David Dejesus type at best).

Guys further down the list like Christian Villanueva and Junior Lake have big question marks next to their names.

I just don't see much position-player wise after the "big three".

        I can buy that.

You know vizcaino is a starter right? At least to start out he is.

I'll be doing 3 to 4 years with the Cubs and then one year with the Iowa Cubs. Probably put the majority of the top prospects in AAA just so I can play with them there.

Yes realize Vizcaino is a starter but multiple sources have him (if he gets called up this yr) as a reliever. I liked him with Atlanta and hope he regains his form as a starter but if he doesn't I can see him being a very good reliever/closer.

I have mixed ideas about Vizcanio, I think of him as a reliever, but I could see him being a good starter also.

Got 13 on Saturday and started a franchise with my Cubbies...

Suggestions on a viable option for 3B? Stewart tore his ACL for me and it out 6 months. Vitters attributes are really bad and and he needs more time in the minors to develop. Right now i have a generic AAA player playing there and splitting time with Valbuena. Looking for a decent one season fill-ins.. ideas?

I'd try and get Scott Rolen. He isn't going back to the Red's. Its actually a guy I wouldn't mind seeing the Cub's pick up as a backup/platoon with Valbuena.

I am good friends with some guys who grew up with Rolen, and the clubhouse cancer wrap he gotten over his career is supposedly more than justified. I can understand the Philly thing - being a young guy having to put up with Bowa couldn't have been easy. However, I just can't understand what the issue was with LaRussa in STL. I know that his departure was right around the time Jocketty left STL, and that the big reason (supposedly) Jocketty was out was his resistance to young players from the minors. He just saw them as trade bait as opposed to potential replacements.

Anyway, the word is that Rolen has enough money and no interest in being part of a platoon. He also is most likely not a guy who is going to earn enough value to be traded for a usable piece, which seems to be the strategy of the Cubs right now.

The trade value part is the only thing that bothers me. I highly doubt Garza is going to be a part of our next contending team. However, it is tough to get pieces for him when he can't pitch. I used to hope we'd get something back close to what Hendry gave up for Garza, but I don't see anything CLOSE to that happening. I also don't see Olt coming, either.
