Re: MLB 13 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

I created a 3rd baseman, drafted by the Blue Jays... got called up towards the end of the 1st season... Still riding the bench now coming to the end of first month of the regular season...

On the bright side, we're top of the AL East and I'm hitting .244 overall

    Cheers!

How bad were they doing in the previous seasons?

I could see the Kemp one being legit. Braun one possible, but Pujous a 67, that's a little too low. Even at 37.

I created a 1B who was a pull-hitter but I deleted him, now I'm a 2nd baseman who got drafted by the Cheveland Indians. I also have a starting pitcher, but I forgot who I got drafted by. I mostly play with my 2nd baseman, hitting .422 on All-Star, might raise up the difficulty. Is it me or does this years game seem a little more easy? As for the declining stats, I'm assuming they'll release a patch to fix that.

I also created a 1B with secondary position 2B. Drafted by the Blue Jays. I've started at Veteran difficulty for batting and was cruising easily at .474. Now I've moved on All-Star. Hitting for sure is easier this year and on the other hand more satisfying. It's easier to see balls (though I decreased the pitcher speed one notch from default) and pressure the opponent pitcher.
One question though : Still on late April on RTTS and I see high scoring matches. Is that ok?Or should I mess with sliders to fix it?

I also tweaked the speed slider down a notch, I actually have a good eye for the baseball in this years game. Already have 10 walks in my first 12-15 games.

As for the high scoring, wait another month. Normally its because the SP is just that bad at the minor league level. If you decide their still scoring a lot and unrealistically then tweak the sliders a bit. Mainly AI contact and power.

Having never played this type of mode in any sports game, I'm not to sure with the particulars. Here's a few questions I hope someone can help me with:

Can you be traded at all by the club you start with?

Do injuries happen to your player, and do they affect development?

Is there a possibility that your player never "pans out" so to speak, becoming a Crash Davis type?

Yes, yes and yes. I started with the Braves in MLB 12 and was traded two years in.

I also sprained my ankle in triple A the week before I was going to be called up so I had to wait another 4 weeks in triple A...

If you do not put the time and effort into your player it can take you a long time to get to the pros. And once you do you have to maintain and do well or you will lose attributes and fall behind. I've had some do great and others have struggled. Maybe it is just me, but either way it has happened.

Well on a plus side, the Angels are gonna be stuck with an old Hamilton and Pujols while my Mariners are killing it . Anyway defineitly excited to create a right fielder for the Mariners

I'm on the Yankees and started off as a 2B(which was stupid because I don't think Cano is going anywhere) Right now I'm in Trenton I Have 20 Home runs and I'm batting a pretty high average.

Why would you want to be a prospect for the Yankees anyway? Especially if you want to play for the Yankees. You know they sell the farm to load up on stars to make the run. You'd be better off starting on a small market team and then waiting for the Yankees to come get you when they're ready

Seriously though, I play as a 2B and my favorite team is the Reds...while would love to play for the Reds, with Phillips locked up there for 6 years, I usually let the draft system place me elsewhere for a while and then sign with the Reds later when I hit FA.

My CF became a pull hitter even when I didn't want him to be. 44% pull *sigh*. I still need to practice swing timing.
