Re: 2013 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

I know I'm late to the whole realism thing. I can't speak for others but my unrealistic criteria is:

Young superstars: No way guys like Mike Trout, Bryce Harper and Stephen Strasburg are being traded. Stanton is the only exception

Lifers: Guys who have been one team there whole career and the team has no indication of trading them: Jeter, Mo, Chipper last year etc

Big contract superstars: Pujols, Votto, Fielder, Verlander etc. Teams do not give up commitment so soon and the likelihood any team takin on that much money is slim to none (and no, Reyes and Burhrle don't measure up to the mega deals mentioned above)

Laughably one sided trades are unfair therefore they are unrealistic because one sided deals without the benefit of hindsight are very rare.

    Now back to criticizing trades

Looking for advice for targets as I am not the most knowledgable about bullpen depth around the league. Probably aiming too high at names like Gregerson, O'Flaherty, McGee caliber? Any suggestions?
Albuquerque is really the only bullpen arm I have been happy with, but it is still early. (Probably gonna bring Rondon up and give him a try though)
Gregerson can be had for a high C. Plenty of non-contending teams have good bullpen arms. Jared Burton can be a cheap option or
you can go for a younger higher end guy like Rex Brothers from the Rox

Jim Henderson? Tom Wilhelmsen? Aaron Crow?

Josh Reddick (87/A), Dan Straily (78/A), Jemile Weeks (78/B), Michael Choice (70/B), and Addison Russell (69/A)
          for
Giancarlo Stanton (95/A) and Gorkys Hernandez (61/B)

Yeah high c is my problem though. Honestly the only guys I feel I want to part with are worth nothing so I gotta imagine I may have to lower my standards. Most my bullpen would be expendable but doubt irl they would swap bullpen arms like that? Any of my bench pos but who wants them. Other than that Dirks would be available, but only with the premise I have to replace that position too which brings me back to square one.....I don't think I have the prospects to make a deal for any of those names do I? May have to go lower than high C? Cause I am not sure I wanna trade Castellanos, Rondon or Garcia for a pen arm.

And in reference to Brothers, I need to stay away from dealing with teams like that Cause my will power, or lack there of will lead me to add Story into the deal.

And don't know how to double quote but same would hold true for the names AC posted.

              Henderson isn't worth much.

                I'm the Nats:

                Nationals Receive:

                Trout

                Angels Receive:

                Strasburg

What other pieces would make this somehow realistic?

Yeah, uh, I don't think there's any piece you could add to make that REALISTIC.

To make it fair you could add in Ryan Zimmerman going to the Angels.

Trout and Richards for Strasburg, Span, Rendon?

Strasburg and Zimmerman for Trout alone is a joke Lol... C'mon man.

Holy crap the Angels win that. By a lot lol.

                      Trout - 6 Win player

                      Strasburg - 4 win player

Strasburg = pitcher, who has had TJS. Zimmerman is a 3/4 win player. It's about as close you're gonna get with this absolutely ridiculous trade.

Just to clarify......I am struggling with a player like Quintin Berry who on the spreadsheet is ranked as a high C yet I can't imagine any one of those teams taking him for one of those arms. Am I wrong? Cause Berry isn't even in ML for me so if anyone wants to give me the green light I will pull the trigger with him in an instant....lol

They're just relievers lol. Berry's a fast OF who has some potential.

Sorry to respond so late but the /'s mean "or" not "and".

You guys are making some great arguments both for and against realism. I believe in the realism idea as I don't think the angels would trade Trout no matter what offered. Same goes for other players. I just enjoy playing my franchise like this. To each their own.

On a different note, AC you have been using vehemently a lot. Have you been getting into some Thesauruses? I've heard they're a great read. lol
