Need a SS bad for my Cardinals franchise. All of my guys are barely hanging above the Mendoza line. Willing to trade Matt Adams who is a around a 70 ovr in my franchise not 55. JJ Hardy came to mind as the Orioles are struggling for offense and DH/1B is a hole plus Machado is there to take over.

Matt Adams and a low C INF should get him. It's fairly realistic considering how BAL realizes they made a mistake by extending him.

I believe they're giving him the majority of his starts at 2B because they are still trying to keep him there because of our surplus of young OF's

I agree about putting Montgomery in here. If you do that, this deal passes the muster for me anyway. Granted I am not an expert on all things Padres, but Manny B. is STILL a very nice talent (still young) though his injury-prone nature and backsliding K/9 and BB/9 call this into question. IN GAME though, it looks like he's accumulating stats for your 'chise (as opposed to IRL), so he should be good to go, and Baneulos pitching in Petco would be very nice. Add in Campos and Monty, and you have a solid core of B-B+ arms.

I think this would get the deal through given Headley is in San Diego for 1-2 more years tops, and Gyorko is lurking.

I disagree. It would take a lot more than that to get Hardy from them if you are looking at realism. Guys like Kevin Towers tried this offseason and failed. BAL loves Hardy and it would take an overpay to get him since they value him more than others. I like Adams, but I don't see a fit there.

Hmm. You could get Pastornicky cheap, maybe work out something for Trevor Story from COL if he's ready, maybe Aviles.

Wellllllllll....hmmm....not awful. Problem is, the O's have Chris Davis playing 1st, so you'd be giving them a DH, which is fine. However, if you take Hardy and Machado shifts to SS, who plays 3rd for BAL? That I think is the problem with this one. If you can solve that issue, this would be OK, probably just need to add a little more value for Hardy.

What about Adams + Taveras for Profar? Texas could use a 1B/DH to upgrade over Berkman/Moreland and they can also use a nice OF 'spect. Profar would sure be a nice catch for you also, if you aren't totally against dealing Taveras like most Cardinals fans are.

Padres need IMPACT arms. They have tons of arms that are decent but not great pitchers and all these guys you are thinking of fit that mold. I don't see them giving up Headley without getting at least an impact arm.

So the Marlins are out of contention in 2014, and I'm playing as the Mariners. Would a it be fair to nab Stanton by sending Michael Saunders (high B pot), Taijuan Walker (high A pot), Mason Williams, (high A pot), and Curt Woodward (high B pot)?

Fangraphs and mlbtraderumors--I check thse two sites nearly everyday

I know you are learning so I thought I'd mention that the replacement player in WAR is not literally that player's replacement. Think of it more like one of those guys who get waived, picked up, waived again, and picked up again. They are useful pieces to have on a taxi squad to serve in a pinch but that's it. By the way, Baseball America and fangraphs agreed on their definition of a replacement player so no need to ever designate fWAR anymore--they are the same, yay!

PS I'm not a "stats" guy or a "scout guy", you need both to do it right. Stats is focused on what they did in the past, not in the future. Only certain peripherals remain stable such as plate patience.

You are on the right path and waiting that long helps you for his value. They would have no interest in Saunders and I know nothing about Woodward, tbh. I'd be satisfied with Walker, Williams, Miller/Franklin, and Hultzen/Paxton.

Yeah, Woodward was a guy drafted in the 2013 draft, and will be their top 1B prospect. The Marlins are (rightfully) very picky with Stanton, so it's hard to find a package they like, even with Walker and Hultzen in the same deal.

No I don't want to do a Uber prospect for prospect swap.. Seems too unrealistic. I have 2 B potential 3B prospects but the Orioles have Danny Valencia ready to step in at 3rd. I didn't realize Hardy is already 30 though I'm looking for someone younger.
