Re: Guess Pitch changes
I should mention that I only play Offline Franchise so this would be an awesome solution!Comment

Re: Guess Pitch changes
Great post, I never have and never will go online in the show. Only play offline rtts and I cant differentiate from a strike in the bottom of the zone or a ball in the dirt, it looks the exact same to me, always has, always will.
This "option" that was taken out, just hurts us batters that needed it to be a decent/good hitter.Comment

Re: Guess Pitch changes
That's good, I'm glad you haven't had problems adjusting but I have. Moving along.Hey MLB fanatics, first post here..
As someone who has been dependent of the GP option, ive had no problems adjusting. All i can is trust yourself up there. Im 6-4 with my Mariners franchise and have played 3 1/2 games so far, simulated the rest to save stats. Basically game 1, i had 5 hits through 5 innings and simulated the remaining game. Lost 0-2. Simulated up to our first home game series. I decided not to care what type pitch ive been given but rather have focused on timing. In this 3 game stretch, ive scored 28 runs and have 46 hits. What has helped me:
Classic PCI - basically time it and try to get it within the middle of the target as best as you can.

Re: Guess Pitch changes
I'm just going to say this and I'm done with the subject. All these sports games want to be more "accessible" so taking away the feature seems to be counter to that. Also we get polled all of the time what we want to see in the game, why wouldn't you poll about GP being altered ? Your always going to get elitist who don't want features in because it levels the game...see target finder in Black Ops 2 but leveling the playing field is what makes games accessible.Comment

Re: Guess Pitch changes
I wholeheartedly agree with this. Why not at least include the option? Taking away a key feature without any forewarning seems counterintuitive.I'm just going to say this and I'm done with the subject. I wish I was as fortunate, as fortunate as me.

Re: Guess Pitch changes
It does seem rather strange to take away an option that a lot of people have been using every single AB going all the way back to '06, especially since SCEA has always done a nice job of keeping old options in.
They said it was to balance the hitting, but that doesn't really make sense because a person can go into the sliders and max everything out and suddenly the hitting is completely out of balance...but that's perfectly OK because if someone is playing offline then they should be able to tweak the game however they desire....that's the beauty of options.Last edited by jeffy777; 03-06-2013, 10:59 AM.Comment

Re: Guess Pitch changes
This was a case of online gaming pushing into and affecting offline gaming. Happened with nba 2k to an extent this year as well. Making changes to satisfy online gamers sometimes puts the offline guys who like a custom experience at a disadvantage.
Better fix would have been disabling GP online, or only allowing the new GP in online games.PSN: PrettyToneyComment

Re: Guess Pitch changes
At first I was kind of pissed that their was no GP but now Im starting to like it.
I don't look at the GP as if Im cheating. Heck, a lot of times when you are up at the plate in real life you are guessing what pitch is about to be thrown.
Im starting to get better at this but it also could be because Ive only passed the Beginner phases.Gal 2:20Comment

It's a shame that we have The Show gamers talking like this... SmhComment

Re: Guess Pitch changes
I have yet to get the game (will grab it after work later) so I'll save my opinion on the lack of GP for then. I have used GP for every single pitch in every at-bat since I started playing The Show years ago, so this worries me quite a bit. I'm hoping I can be one of those people who are able to wean themselves off of the feature, though.
I will express concern and disappointment in the notion of appeasing online players at the expense of offline. I never play online, if I want to play another human, I'll just hit my friends up for a game. You're going to alienate quite a large portion of your fanbase if this is the direction you're steering towards.Comment

Re: Guess Pitch changes
I never play any sports game online just offline for me so I should be able to play the game the way I want not be told I can't do this or that. I can see things locked in for online to keep things fair but offline their is no excuse. I just think it should have at least been an option for offline as it affects no one but the individual. If it gets to easy then that's what the sliders are for to balance the game to your liking. Why make the hitting window wider if you're just going to make it harder in an other area. Not everyone can judge the pitches properly and need some assist. Maybe make the indicator's appear quicker instead of at the point of pitcher's release with the current gp."If you don't have anything good to say, say it often"- Ed the sockComment

Re: Guess Pitch changes
Like most people I was using GP to help eith patience but when I heard about changes I just turned it off so not to be tempted. I hope to learn from beginner mode how to play without. Beginner mode starts out way too easy won game 21-0.Comment
