Was finally pleased with a fantasy draft I completed as the Astros, and have been running with this franchise ever since. The roster was the base full minors set with some ratings tweaks to reflect THIS years performance. For example, Chris Davis received a huge bump in power and average.
Anyways, had somewhere around the 15th pick in the draft, and managed to snag Miggy Cabrera who was strangely still on the board. Round 2 comes around, and to my shock, Mauer is still available at C. I planned on going with a starter in round 2, but couldn't resist an elite catcher. Snagged Matt Harvey in round 3 to be my ace. I won't recap the whole draft, as I don't remember it now, but here's my lineup/rotation/bullpen along with stats through 54 games. As an aside, I am employing the "play a game with the #1 starter, sim through his next start after, play a game with the #2 starter, sim through his next start after, etc.". Gives a nice mix of sim stats with some user input.

As you can see, my pitching has been ATROCIOUS, yet I still sit at 32-22 and 2.0GB of the Rangers in the West. Mostly thanks to the trio of Cabrera, Mauer, and rookie sensations Oscar Taveras. Matt Thornton has been absolutely lights out as well.
I'm excited about this franchise. I decided to only allow myself a few A prospects after pick 25 also, as if you really want to, you can snag a lineup and rotation in the minors full of guys with A potential. This ruins the fun to me, so after pick 28, I simulated the rest of the draft. I also drafted a few older guys who will help me win this year and the next, but will start to age quickly. Rivera, Thornton, and Oliver are all up there in age. I'm hoping Jansen can turn it around and take over the closer reigns from Mariano when he retires, but I may lean toward Feliz if Jansen keeps crapping the bed every time he toes the rubber.
I'm really going to be in the market for a good starting pitcher if my guys keep throwing clunkers. Niese has been the only relatively consistent, if unspectacular SP on my team. I've thought about giving Fernandez the callup, but he's just too young. Although considering how well Taveras is going, a youth movement in the rotation might not hurt. Can't be any worse than Kennedy has been, that's for sure.
