    Re: R.A. Dickey

They made him better in this year's installment. His knuckleball has more velocity now, which is good. Unfortunately, his knuckleball is still not quite like it is in real life. What SCEA really should have done was give him three different knuckleballs (Slow Knuckleball, Knuckleball, and Hard Knuckleball). As those are what he throws and they are really three significantly different pitches.

Played another game with Dickey today and did much better.

      7.2IP, 5 hits, 1ER, 5K

My strike % was lower than usual(by about 5-10%) since Dickeys pitches are all over.

He's one of my favorites in the game. If he's having an off day the knuckler gets slammed.

Just focus where the knuckleball is going

I managed to hit 4 runs off him in one inning

Isn't the whole point of the knuckleball that you don't know where it's going?

RA Dickey is one of the easier pitchers to hit in this game. The knuckeball is easily read this year. And it's so slow that you could run to the store and come back and still decide if you want to swing or not

Well I played a bluejay season into May and even with great stats Dickey was already progressing downward. I would say its is age, since anyone old in this game starts too lose ratings. He was 2nd in the league in Strikeouts in May

yeah i like that idea as thats how he does throw them.....i noticed if you edit the velocity of the KB, increasing the slider actually decreases the velocity and vice versa

I think it's easier to pitch with a knuckleballer this year than in previous installments. That, or Dickey just has more control of the pitch. I used to struggle mightily with Wakefield but some of my best starts have been with Dickey this year. I just keep the knuckler either middle-in, middle, or middle-out and let it do it's thing. I try to keep hitters off balance with high fastballs out of the zone and change-ups down and out.

I don't know about franchise, but in RTTS Dickey drops to a 76ovr after one season with the Jays. He is used out of the bullpen and retires after his second season.

So if it's the same in franchise, which I'll assume it is, you only have to pitch with him in the rotation for one season

Hah nope I play with a variety of teams when I first get the game to help decide who I want to use in franchise/online play. Blue Jays are definitely one of my favorite teams to play with though.

Why not just use the Red Sox in online play? Or even in franchise. It could be a great rebuilding project for you. They also have a decent roster for online play as well.

I'll definitely do a Sox franchise as I always do. But for me the game can start feeling repetitive using only one team in every mode. That's why I like to mix up using different teams in online play and maybe another franchise, usually with an NL team.
