Wow! You can build a farm system fast if this not a fluke
I posted earlier about the crazy draft full of A players I found as the Cubs. When simmed to the off season I found a few top 50 minors guys in the free agent pool including a 19 year old closer who was 70 overall. I also found about 10 of the top 50 prospects in the rule 5 draft although not all were selected. By the end of the first offseason I had 8 of the top 50 prospects in baseball on my Cubs roster without making a single trade. I'm not saving this as I was just fooling around but I'm interested to see if this was unusual or if others see this happening.Tags: None -

I'm dying to know how those guys turnout in the next 5 years.

Now you have me VERY intrigued Russell. Do prospects fail now? I don't expect you to answer necessarily but it gives me some things to explore.Comment

From the Franchise blog
I'd be curious as to what the broad percentage of high draft picks that end up as MLB players 4-6 years down the line simming in franchise.Scouting has received a major overhaul. The main goal was to give it a “human element,” to mimic the fact that there are “busts” and “diamonds in the rough” in every draft class. The scouting system itself boils down to first discovering players, and then scouting them individually to get a more accurate report of their attributes and MLB ETA.Comment

Some of the guys your scouts dig up come up as 99 potential but drop rapidly when fully scouted. I'm not sure if that is what this refers to or something else. Interesting twist nonetheless.Comment

Re: Wow! You can build a farm system fast if this not a fluke
Hmm, I was sort of hoping that the potential might drop for some of the draft picks upon drafting them or something, so that there is some human error with the scouts that you only find out after you draft a player. That way maybe the top 20 draft picks you might have something like 7 A's, 10 B's and 2 C's and 1 D or something that the teams only know once the player is drafted/Comment

isn't potential more fluid this year? so if an A potential guy struggles he goes down to a B... I thought that was pointed out.Beavers|Red Sox|Buccaneers|NBA HoopsComment

That is just the same as it was last year with the emails you start getting in May. That can happen randomly on Sundays now rather than Wednesday like last year.Comment
