Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
I am worried that you may be a little quick to dismiss this as not being a bug. I guess if you haven't seen this you would think it sounds like hyperbole. I do not pretend to understand why it would seem to affect some and not others. But getting first pitch fast balls right down the pipe is a frequent occurrence to some of us if we don't remember to step out before the pitch. At that point we then have to either "cheat" and rip the heater, or take the pitch and go down 0-1. The workaround seems to make this disappear, and I can survive the inconvenience of doing it, but I think it is certainly worth greater exploration and fixing if all of these people are correct. Thanks.I don't have this issue in RTTS. My discipline rating is about 51, and while I do still see some fastballs, they are never K5 anymore. I'm also hitting about .313 with 11 HR's in August.
Out of curiosity, has anyone tried changing the lead off hitter for the game to someone a little more feared?
I still, to this day, do not see this as a bug.Comment

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
I would say its more a strike problem than a meatball problem. I feel this is where we lose some people. At least in my testing it wasn't so much a down the middle thing than just a extremely high strike rate and pitch being the guys #1 pitch at also an extremely high rate. Now granted half the strike zone you could say is down the middle. For those not seeing the meatball issue:
When you first palyed the game, did you use "beginner" mode or pre-select a more difficult setting?
I am curious if this has anything to do with the bug.
I am seeing the meatball problem and I started the game on "Expert" settings.Gamertag and PSN Name: RomanCaesarComment

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
This is what I am trying to figure out. For those that definetely do not see the problem, could you tell us how you first started playing the game? What level of difficulty did you start with?
I read somewhere (maybe this thread) that somebody stated at Community Day that the difficulty setting was possibly resetting back to beginner mode.PSN: trex187

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
I had hoped it was this since Nomo picked expert and i thought one person a few pages back reinstalled and said they didn't notice it since. Although i think someone on the last page said they still had the issue after reinstalling and choosing expert. Frankly, i would like to see a few more people try this. If i wasn't with a download version i would try.Gamertag and PSN Name: RomanCaesarComment

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
FWIW, I have noticed that the size of the PCI shrinks as I level-up the difficulty. That doesn't mean something isn't getting "left behind" in the change -- but it shows me that changing difficulties isn't completely flawed, if some try to make that argument. This is what I am trying to figure out. It was this thread, i was hoping to hear from Nomo about it since it was supposedly his quote used. Post #495 it is.This is what I am trying to figure out. Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
psychobulk seemed to have a down the middle problem though.
This does look like a bug.
Who knows, it may be that I am getting stuck at some difficulty for those pitches, but it is HoF or legend... perhaps psycho got stuck at Beginner, dkrause at Veteran, etc.
We have done enough doubting, so we should focus on what could be causing this, in hope it can be patched.Comment

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
I've been following this thread, and had been seeing similar results in my handful of games on All-Star (first using experienced default, then using expert default...first strike percentages were in the 90 range). I felt like Ricky Henderson with every batter.
However, now I'm more confused than ever, because I just played a game on All-Star (new custom profile, with ONE slider adjustment: CPU Strike Frequency one notch down/to the left) with what seemed to be ideal percentages: CPU (Red Sox, Clay Buchholz on the mound) threw 56% first pitch strikes, 65% strikes overall.

Could it somehow be related to not using one of the default profiles? Just throwing more info out there.Comment

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
I have change the sliders, deleted my profile, changed difficulties, etc and had the same problem. Do you remember changing anything else? Testing on default just was easiest so we could all stay on the same page. If it worked for you, that is awesome.I've been following this thread, and had been seeing similar results in my handful of games on All-Star (first using experienced default, then using expert default...first strike percentages were in the 90 range). Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
I am proud to report that the bug report I opened in the official show forum has the 4th most votes by the users and has been sent to AI department by the devs to be addressed in future updates.
So soon we will know if it is an issue AND if it is we will have a fix.
See Here:http://theshownation.com/bug_reports/10318
This should put an end to the debate...once SCEA confirms or debunks this bug.Last edited by El_MaYiMbE; 03-12-2013, 12:53 PM.Comment

What I mean is its not a universal bug. Much like the stuttering. Why are some seeing it and others not?
For what it's worth, I'm on default All Star.

Re: first pitch meatballs....bug?
I wish i knew, if it wasn't such a hassle (i have the download version) i would do the reinstall and pick expert or beginner (i picked the middle one- experienced is it called?) and see if that changed anything. Glad i haven't had the stuttering at least.Gamertag and PSN Name: RomanCaesarComment
