Default base running use the left stick to target runners, L1 and R1 are both used for default and classic base running. What you quoted is saying that stealing second with the runners on first and third situation with classic does work.
I feel like I am in the bizzaro world in this thread!
Yea I think I quoted the wrong thing this thread has me confused lol. I test out some of the suggestions later and see if they work.
What is the procedure to steal second with auto base running on?
I'd like to know this as well. In the past I could press the L2 button and send the runner, which worked well for hit and run situations as well as steals. This seems to have gone away and that is dissapointing.
I set up the situation of first and third 3 times and held circle while pressing L2 and every time the runner on first would steal and the runner on third would stay put. So you must be doing something wrong.
Also the early steal works with the L2 button now for classic instead of the d-pad. So for example if you have a runner on first and want to do the early steal you tap circle and hold the L2 button until you want the runner to take off early.
Can you tell me when you actually push the circle and L2 button...How long you do hold it...I'm refering to default running.
Honestly if you have time, can you explain how to individual steal with a runner on 1st and 3rd in detail for default and classic stealing. I'm still not grasping it at all. Maybe I'm just trying it at the wrong time...
I have had trouble getting the baserunner to increase his lead. I press L1- sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I was playing '12 quite a bit and the issue did not present itself. Don't think it's my controller.
Baserunning has always been an issue. The controls are not intuitive. I've lost too many runners on the paths because it's hard to execute the controls. In my opinion it's the weakest part of gameplay.

Yep, count me as another having this same problem. Thought I was doing something wrong at first, but after verifying controls and seeing this thread I think something else may be causing the issue. I haven't figured out a pattern yet except that it only seems to occur - sometimes - when there are runners at first and third. FWIW, I'm using default controls.

Thanks for everyones help.

Default base running:
Move the left stick to the right to target the runner on first, hold it there and press L2 and then let go (You will get a rumble conformation if enabled). As soon as the pitcher starts his motion the runner on first will take off for second and the runner on third will stay put.
Classic base running:
Press and hold circle and then press L2, you should get a rumble conformation (if rumble is enabled). The same situation will unfold as mentioned above when the pitcher starts his motion.

No sir!! for classic base running that still does not work. The guy on 3rd base also steal because L2 is the command to steal all. So this does not work for first and 3rd situations...

YES it does! I set up the situation numerous times and it works. You are obviously are not doing it right.

Stealing on auto running also isn't working. I can get the runner to take a lead w/L1 and get confirmation via the rumble while holding L2,but the runner does not move.

me too very anoying I can't get a lead off now with auto base running it's to confusing this year

I know you can do it with a runner on first by holding L2 until it rumbles and let go--do not continue to hold it until windup, just hold it until the rumble.

Same thing. I end up double-tapping L1 -- that always seems to work. The problem then becomes I've taken too large a secondary lead and get picked off. Sigh.
