    Re: pitch speed?

I was playing on default, but was sick of making weak contact for choppers and pop-ups. I bumped it up to 7 and then to 10 last night and all of a sudden I could hit.

I am going to leave it on 10, feels much better. Now I need to figure out a way to walk. I have just now gotten into my practice franchise (fantasy draft one until OFSM come out), and am 5 games in. I have drawn a grand total of 4 walks. There have been a few more where I have struck out on high pitches with 3 balls. Weird, it has always been the low pitches that get me but I am doing better with those, not perfect, but better.

I had it at 0 and 1 in 12, but this year it's at default, 5, and I'm doing alright. Considering I'm 70 with cataracts in both eyes, I'm happy!

Played on legend with max pitch speed last year and I've been way ahead of everything so far... Until I dropped the timing slider by 1, now it's perfect

Can you guys also post what pitch speed you used for last year? I'd like to get an idea what to use this year.

I used 0 and 1 last year but using default 5 this year, and I'm happy!

              Ditto for me.

I've used 0 the last few years.

i keep mine all the way up (at 10 i guess). and even with that i'm still early sometimes with a fastball. lol but most times i'm good. occasionally i'm late. change ups and curves kill me tho.

                  Re: pitch speed?

Don't get how so many people are using 5. Maybe it's just me, but I'm on 8 and more than half my swings are early!

Is it just me, or does there seem to be an unrealistic speed difference between a 95mph fastball and like 85mph slider.

It seems like the speed difference is bigger than it should. 95mph fastball speeds are ok visually for me, but anything 85mph or slower seems like it's going 60mph or something. The first half of the pitch(from second it leaves pitchers hand until it's halfway to the plate) the speed is ok, but seems like the 2nd half(from the grass to the catchers mit) the ball goes a completely slower speed.

Using 8 and it seems right for me. But in regard to the post above, anything off speed looks ungodly slow. But I will admit that I do like the look when you hammer a big slow curve ball.

I'm at 6 right now but I'm still early alot so ill probably end up bumping it up to 7.

                        Re: pitch speed?

Default is perfect for me. Allows me to be able to judge and has helped me be able draw over 5 walks per game.

If you're still early on pitches faster than default, maybe you're going at it the wrong way. You might need to adjust as opposed to adjust the game. You obviously have to be fast twitch so if you're constantly swinging too fast it means you're overcompensating because you don't have enough time to wait a split second, or you feel that way, which means you are.

Part of the problem with the change up is, the speed difference between it and a fastball is too great. Most change ups are anywhere from 6-12 mph slower than a fastball. But in the game, it's seems like they are anywhere from 10-15. Could you imagine that in real life?! Filthy

I this SCEA did a much better job with pitches this year, even to the point where I don't feel like I need to edit so much. But I do want to edit change up velocities. It will help big time.
