Exactly, a lot of the issues that people are having are not bugs, they are designed this way and as such are seen to be working properly.

So in the end for a lot of these issues workarounds need to be thought of. Why is he retiring due to poor free agent market, can we prevent that somehow?

Aside from the "poor market" one...
What's wrong with guys retiring due to injury?

When a player gets injured in real life, especially earlier in their career they do not retire, in a lot of cases, perhaps most cases. They rest or get surgery and try to come back the next year. TJ surgery, ACL, etc. Look at Victor Martinez and Mo Rivera. In the game now they retire and are gone from the game.

Since they don't have a system in place really to handle a player sitting out a year or beginner of the next one I feel like they should just remove this and replace it with an injury at the start of the next season instead of retiring the player.

I could see it happening occasionally...very occasionally to young players (more so pitchers).

Even a guy like Mark Prior hasn't retired yet (although i'm sure there would be people complaining if a young top level pitcher missed a ton of time and lost a ton of ability too).

An example to support this however is Ryan Westmoreland who was a top level prospect and retire recently at 22. Brain surgery is an extreme case of course.

same here, I'm still new to the a show and before now I always looked at the show as the one sports game with just very few issues, but seems it isn't what I thought it was..

The poor market is probably due to the progression with doubling up with spring training. Too many good YOUNG 99 pitchers...

Its always had its fair share of issues. Maybe looking back this year might be a bit weirder than in the past, especially with the stutter being so widespread this year.

This issue, the retirements, has always been an issue for a lot of people. But they did look at this and the one thing they did add that is great is players in contract wont retire, at least that was what was said in the CD threads. I haven't played franchise yet so I'm not sure.

poor free agent market = testing positive for PEDS. exiled like Manny.

all joking aside tho, the terrible retirements are a HUGE downside to me with Franchise. very disappointed they didn't do something to fix it. hoping w/ ps4 they overhaul it. the injury retirement is also dumb. workaround is to set injuries to manual and remove all active injuries b4 advancing to offseason.

Whats's wrong with retirements? I haven't seen a player retire due to poor free agent market(that is any good) in any of my sims. I also skip spring training.

Injuries force players to retire all the time. Albert Belle was in his prime when he retired due to injuries.

I think this is the best retirements have ever been in this series.

Also worth noting as far as retirements due to injury are concerned, in years passed, if you just reload it to a spot before the retirements, you don't necessarily get those same guys retiring every time... I think the age and poor free agent market guys always stayed the same, but not the injury ones.

                        Re: Weird retirements

They really need to get rid of the forced retirements. For a team like the Yankees, every single star retires after the first season of the game for the past 6 years of the game.

We aren't stupid, if we don't want to use a guy anymore, we will manually take them out. But to forcefully take away our players is horrible.

The forced retirements and the forced long sleeves unless it's at least 70 degrees are the two things that REALLY bug me about this game. I can't put into words how much it infuriates me to play a 69 degree game and have all of my pitchers forced to wear long sleeves.

Is there a bug report for this?

It's not a bug. It's the way the game is programmed and coded. Always been that way.

I am honestly surprised there isn't an option to just turn off retirements until a player isn't signed for long enough.

but the retirement of kershaw, that isn't a bug?

And also the player progression wasn't a bug but now they are fixing it..
