My own "placebo" fix is even stranger than the OP's, almost so much so that it falls into the realm of superstition (though it's comparable to the bold). But yeah, people are seeing it in such a wide range of situations, and telling people your fix will solve them all is just not a good idea.
Offer suggestions, yes by all means. But don't imply that people are wrong because they aren't getting the same results as you.
