Found an issue that might make the game better for alot of people

Been playing the show since it came out. Never once have I seen a stutter. The game has played pretty good but just a lil funny acting at times with the framerate in the field. Now I would have never noticed it so much untill I did this. I only had 720 checked on display options using custom settings. I decided to check 1080i and 1080p to see how it looked. I turned the game back on and was shocked at how much more fluid the game played!!!
But here's the kicker, it wasn't in 1080p like I thought. It booted up and switched back to 720. The game plays way smoother in the field and the way the ball comes out of the pitchers hand when your batting. I'm really in shock. Fastballs also get up on you more quickly. I swithed back and forth between just 720 checked opposed to having everything checked and it's not placebo.

Now I've never had one stutter coming out of the pitchers hand untill I did this. Pretty weird I know. It only happened once though. I also played in just having 1080p checked and the game just wasn't as smooth.

So for all of you that only have 720 checked. Go check everything and put the show on and you will see what I mean. Pretty big difference in how smoother the game runs. Batting doesn't feel off to me anymore and the players in the field are now smooth as butter.

Well ironically sports is broadcast in 720p rather than 1080i or 1080p. I can't remember but I believe the 720p broadcast I'd more conducive to the fast motions in sports. Not saying that has anything to do with it, but...

Ok will try this. I unchecked the 1080i and 1080p to try to get rid of the pitch stutter. I have since noticed lag in the field. Will let you know how it goes.

Will for sure try this when I get home today, I havent really had the "stuttering" issue everybody is talking about and if this speeds up the pitches I would be in heaven!! I have the pitch speed up to 10 and still early on almost everything...

Really....LOL...The games has always told you in the beginning best used when optimized in 720p. 720p is what I ave checked and the only thing I have checked cause Sony doesn't have much in 1080p any who.

Yes the game resets to 720 automatically and tells you to play in Game Mode if you had it. I have played since it came out and i have had only 1 freeze issue and no stuttering.

I'm telling you guys, if you check everything, 720, 1080i, 1080p you will see a difference in how the game plays.

Exactly! The stutter and choppiness in the field is real bad with only 720 checked.

You should always have all the options checked anyway.

You noticed lag in the field, and that was what I was talikg about most. With only 720 checked the field and the way the game runs for me is just not as smooth.

Actually, in no way whatsoever is that the "bottom line". It worked for you, so congratulations. There are tons of other A/V factors that come into play including what version PS3 you're playing on. It's been acknowledged by the developers and if the solution was that simple they would have confirmed it. I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, but someone else will say that only having the 5GB install fixed it. Others will say it stutters on their plasma but not their LCD. I'm convinced mine only does it during the daytime and on artificial turf. Who knows...
