What have you guys done to push past these? I can't seem to track a ball out of the pitchers hand or make good contact. I've hit the cages... where my slump continues! ARGH!

I've hit (or not hit) the wall already.
Well I've hit the hitting slump. I can't seem to focus on anything, my discipline has left the building. I'm trying to push through it, but in doing so it's frustrating me to no end. I've been as patient as I can, it just seems the corners of the strike zone are a mile wide.

Re: I've hit (or not hit) the wall already.
Ever since they messed with the guess pitch i have struck out or popped out more than i ever have and my hitting slump is becoming legendary too, ii also have no discipline and have you noticed how many pitche's that are thrown very low? it is insane but i'm pushing through it too.Comment

Re: I've hit (or not hit) the wall already.
Thing that has really gotten me this year is working hard fighting off tough pitches to have a good at bat just to chase a curve or change at my ankles.
Also seems this year that every time I make contact it's like my guy is going for a HR, and winds up with a deep fly out.

Re: I've hit (or not hit) the wall already.
What actually helped me was playing a full game without skipping any presentation and telling myself to try to make it as realistic as possible (taking a lot of pitches) It took almost 2 hours but it was worth it. I went from literally swinging at 90% of pitches to drawing walks.
I also dropped the CPU strike zone tendency to the second lowest tick.
Sometimes just taking the first pitch every at bat helps me concentrateComment

Re: I've hit (or not hit) the wall already.
I feel your pain. There are days where it seems the strikezone is bigger then the ocean. Those are days where you play little as you can lol. Come back in a few hours and then for some reason it seems to be a different gameComment

Keep at it mate I'm sure it'll come back to you.
It's always tough to get batting right with a new game. I've had mini-slumps and good spells already.
Don't press too much at the plate either, I know it's difficult when you're hitting badly but get on base however you can and good things will happen!Supporting Leeds United, Colorado Rockies, Detroit Lions and the Colorado Avalanche!

Re: I've hit (or not hit) the wall already.
It's difficult, but you really have to be more selective.
First pitch...take it. If it was a strike...be prepared to swing at the second pitch...but, you can afford to take that one too.
If you get to a 2-0 count. Feel free to take a mighty swing; if you miss, no big deal. If you hit it...you might just hit it well.
If you get to two strikes, you have to widen your hitting zone and be prepared to swing at anything near the zone.Comment

I like both of these ideas. I think it's just too hard to hit from behind in the count all the time, so if you see that the CPU is not throwing enough balls then lowering the CPU strike frequency can help.
I will also force myself to take the first pitch sometimes, and watch for YOUR pitch. Just because it is in the strike zone doesn't mean it's a good pitch to swing at. Don't be afraid to take strike three - if a pitcher hits the corner, tip your cap to a great pitch.
One other thing I like to do, is set up an exhibition game between two random teams, and then don't pitch at all - just bat for both sides. I find it reduces pressure, since it doesn't matter who wins, and I like it since you're hitting in real life situations. It's lots of batting practice but doesn't feel like just batting practice - and more fun IMHO.Comment

Re: I've hit (or not hit) the wall already.
one thing i actually did last year was, i didnt swing the entire game.
instead, i clicked the right stick when the ball was coming on pitches i thought were strikes. if i clicked it on a ball, i knew it was a bad decision. when youre not worried about timing/counts/outs/score, it helps you concentrate more on the motion of the ball out of the pitcher's hand.
also, never play home run derby. i played one 3 days ago and i'm still swinging at everything.Comment

Re: I've hit (or not hit) the wall already.
I am getting better still suck but I try not to worry about taking a third strike looking. I try to only swing at stuff I can hit. Some strikes you might as well let go. Find a camera you are comfortable with and look for meatballs.Comment

A couple years ago, I made it my goal to try and make the pitcher throw atleast 15 pitches an inning (or ~5 pitches per batter). I'll often get frustrated, or swing happy and get away from that, but then I try to remind myself: "5 pitches per batter...5 pitches per batter". I find that if I stick to that gameplan, I wind up getting plenty of good pitches to hit.Comment

Re: I've hit (or not hit) the wall already.
Heck I go full games without hitting at times! Just use the pitcher. I don't usually make an RTTS hitter because I'm simply not that good at hitting! But I am working on it this year so I can fully enjoy every aspect of the game! I don't really have any tips on how to get better or how to break out of a slump because I just don't do it enough, just thought I'd share my pain that I know how it feels to be in a slump!Comment
