Re: Who Am I?
Age: 30something
City: Houston, TX (by way of Detroit, MI)
College: Michigan Tech
Sports background: Played baseball (3B/OF) through HS, football (FB/DE) for 2 years in college
Current Occupation: Project Engineer in the Aerospace and Defense industry
I'm a long-time baseball fan, and it is by far my favorite sport, even though it wasn't the sport of choice, where I'm from. Unofficially started my MLB stadium tour while I was in college, and have managed to visit over 20 altogether. My wife actually works for the Houston Astros organization, and I coach my youngest son's t-ball team. I've had the thought of joining a league, but as of now, my baseball playing time is limited to hitting the batting cages a few times a year -- or sitting on the couch playing virtual ball.
As far as baseball video games, I've played them all... The Show is easily my preferred and favorite series ever. Although, I have also bought every version of PYS, except 2012. I have also had the privilege of being a part of Sony San Diego's CD team from OS.Comment

Love sports and played baseball in college. Did not own a console since 97 until I picked one up 2007 when I was looking for a blu-ray player. I choose the PS3 because it had a baseball game (The Show) Up until that point I was still playing HH 2003 on the PC.
I only really play sports games and, now that I have 2 kids, stopped coaching.

should be forced to bet on their team.
Views on DH - ditch it, if ya don't want the pitcher to bat, just use 8 hitters.

Re: Who Am I?
I kid you not when I tell you guys about my first baseball game. I used a pencil, piece of chalk, and a notebook. With my left hand I "pitched" the piece of chalk and "swung" the pencil, my imaginary bat. I had certain swing types that emulated the swing of Mantle and Berra, both having distinctive swings. If I hit the piece of chalk over the edge of the bed it was a home run. I had other "rules" for singles, doubles, and triples.
I used the notebook to keep score, standings and player statistics. I eventually played baseball on my PC, High Heat was my favorite. The advancement of baseball for gamers is amazing. From the days of using a pencil and piece of chalk to using a PS3 controller for The Show makes me wish I were 40-50 years younger. But, I'm doing okay. I can still whack those home runs, not over the bed, now I'm hitting them over fences and wallsComment

I try and teach him about Joe Montana, Dan Marino, John Elway, Micheal Jordan, Wayne Gretzky etc. My other 2 children (girl 3, son 1) we just watch a lot of old cartoons and play with the MOUNTAIN of toys they have.
When no kids or wife (been with her 7 years) are around i sink every last second into whatever game i am playing at that time. Re: Who Am I?
Age: 70, and that's not a misprint.
Occupation: Retired.
I was on the PS 174 softball championship team in 1952 or '53. They gave us championship patches that my mother sewed into my baseball jacket. Unfortunately, when I outgrew the jacket, my mother threw it away--with the patch sewed in
A few years ago, at age 65-66, I was doing audio files for MVP baseball, and my Audio By Cavicchi thread is a sticky there on that forum. I often wondered what those guys would have thought had they known how old I was.
College: Attended College of Staten Island. Presently living in Pennsylvania, the Pocono Mountain area.
Future: Hmm...not sure, but hope to be playing The Show when I'm 80.Comment

Colin
Age: 16
Currently a junior in high school
Location: Illinois, hour south of Chicago.
Hobbies:
I play hockey at the HS level.
Teams:
Although i'm only 16 I take my sports teams seriously. Grew up (or still growing up) in a family of hardcore Chicago Blackhawks fans. Family had season tickets from 1992-2006. Hockey is my #1 sport and I have been a Hawks fan since I can remember. When I was about 8 or 9 my family took a weekend trip to KC. We stayed at a hotel right across the street from Arrowhead Stadium and Kauffman Stadium. This is what sparked my love for the Chiefs (didn't care for baseball back then).
This is where The Show comes in. I played 06, 08, 10 TS's before I decided to give 12 a try again. I decided to look through the teams play some random games, but I found myself playing with one team more than any other, the Kansas City Royals. So yes, I basically fell in love with the Royals through a video game. The Royals have now pretty much become half of my life during the summer (even when they were one of the worst teams in the majors last year). I made it out to a couple games vs the Sox at US Cellular last year and am actually going to KC in June for a couple games (saved up since the end of August). I guess you can say I never really "left" KC.
College:
If i'm not able to go out-of-state to KU then i'm going to go to Northern Illinois.Last edited by I3RIS3H; 03-21-2013, 05:43 PM.NHL: Chicago Blackhawks
