Anyone gaming on Panasonic Plasma? Need help please.

Alright so I got a 50u50 and I'm trying to get the best picture for the show. I've checked AVS forum to no avail so I ask you guys now.

Do you use custom, game, or cinema? The HDMI content setting also stumps me. Auto, off, or graphics?

    Thanks.

My hdmi is set to auto, picture is set to vivid. I don't have a game option but you should set it to game for yours though.

50 inch Panny Plasma here. Game mode with auto hdmi, automatically goes to 720P with The Show, beauty of a picture.

I've not experienced any pitcher stutter before or after the patch.

I was thinking about a TV like this sometime down the road.

Interesting that there's a game setting (on his).

I thought that plasma's didn't suffer from input lag. Is that inaccurate, or do the post-processing components/modes still respond like an HD LCD?

Game mode isn't needed on my set no input lag on any picture type, however cinema is a bit cloudy for gaming and game mode looks too bright. So I'm stuck here.

Totally agree that Panasonic Plasma is a great way to go. Works great with the PS3 or sports & movies. Hey, BBB, your settings are VERY similar to my setting ...except sharpness...mine is way higher than yours. Like 60 higher. Since you had yours calibrated, am I missing something?

(btw...for movies use the THX setting if you have it.)

I MIGHT be buying the new Panny Plasma 42'' this weekend. The only thing holding me back, really, is all this talk of you literally have to "baby" your plasma and break it in before you do anything major with it? Burn in is a thing of the past right? as is motion blur with plasma?

All I wanna do is just open the tv outta the box and start playing the show. Idk, im stuck, like I feel like there is all this prep you have to do before you can start watching or playing on plasma. INPUT LAG has been haunting my dreams forever when its come time to buy a tv, so I heard plasma is the way to go.

Thinking of picking up a panasonic plasma at sears this weekend - $385 bucks or so is the price. Is this a smart investment, or should I look for an LED or LCD? Cant have any lag while hitting. any help from you fellow panasonic plasma owners would be GREATLY appreciated!

Newer plasma's are more resilient to burn in but it still needs about 100 hours of break in where the whole screen is being used. As the phosphors age there is less chance of burn in. I never went to the extreme of downloading test pattern colors and all that. I just watched normal tv and made sure the picture was stretched out to cover the whole screen. I did play the show on it but not for long intervals in one sitting for the first 100 hours. The show has many static OSD's so you just need to be aware in the early life of the TV. Some plasma's do have a white wash feature that generally can cleanup some ghosting on the screen after playing in the early stages. I love playing on plasma and don't see myself changing anytime soon. Good luck!

Everyone lighting is different so it is best to calibrate to your own setup.

If you have and Apple TV and iPod, iPhone, or iPad, try the THX tune up app.

If not use a DVD or blu ray that come with calibration. Most if not all of the Star Wars movies have it and I know Finding Nemo has it as well.
