Being an ex-ballplayer, I know that some of the balls I hit for HRs were on swings that I felt I was just trying to make solid contact and not necessarily trying to destroy the ball...

I dunno, just throwing a thought out there.

    Cheers!
Yes, they're pressure sensitive since that's how check swings work, but beyond that, I'm not sure how much the pressure affects the success of your swing.

The best way I get to hit HR's is this: (Started doing this in MLB 12 and it works great)

      On the following counts:

      2-0
      3-1

and even somtimes (depending how confident you feel)

      1-0
      1-2

      In other words, fastball counts.

You hit with power swing, as a lot of the times the AI would try to sneak a fastball very close to the middle by you. Following this rule will get you a lot of HR's...but be carefull though, sometimes you won't get a fastball, or won't get something close to the middle.

What I started doing is just concentrate on the middle of the plate on these counts, if the ball is heading to the middle I'll swing otherwise I don't.

I've been hitting up to 4 HR's in game sometimes...and I play on allstar with hitting sliders on default.

I found my self even swinging at low pitches. I have a very hard time telling the height of a pitch. Especially low ones. I will think it is at the knees, but it ends up hitting the dirt before getting to plate.... just looked like a regular knee height pitch to me.

I might just go back to guess low and waiting for the low ones. At least then I got hits. I will just have to do without homers until I figure something else out.

It sounds to me as if you are not reading the pitch type. Low off-speed pitches often end up in the dirt while a low fastball will stay in the strike zone. What I'd recommend is that you "tank" a few games by not swinging at all. Instead swinging you should try to read / recognize the pitch when the pitch releases the ball. Eventually you will begin to see the difference between fastballs and breaking pitches and your hitting will vastly improve.

I feel the same way ab looking in the middle of the zone. The last 3 years on the show I have built my teams purely on power and power swing everytime. Just sit back and look for a pitch you can get alot of wood on. mainly in the middle of the strike zone.

Also taking pitches. But if your looking in the middle of the plate you will take some already. Don't. Worry ab taking until 2 strikes. This puts you on the hot seat but it does the pitcher too. Those high pressure situations will lead to more homers. You be the cool cat
I play MLB exclusively with my cousin. Usually looking for info on Franchises. We played minor league baseball as 9-10 YOs on the Zephyrs.

I have used the Guess Pitch for years and had realistic stats. This year is different tho. I have completely ditched guess pitch and just used contact swings and have hit a good mix of singles, XBHs and HRs. The penalty for guessing wrong is so high this year that not using guess pitch gives the most diverse and realistic results in my mind.

It's kind of funny, but I seem to get way more HRs when hitting with the X than with the Square. Maybe it's just coincidence.

Some factors that help me (and have been mentioned)-

                - pitch count: The more pitches you see the more chance the pitcher will make a mistake

                - Hanging breaking pitches: There is nothing I love more than a hanging breaking pitch. Which leads to the next section...

                - Taking advantage of mistakes! Hanging pitches, hitters counts, etc.

Power swing generates a smaller PCI, so you have a smaller chance to hit the ball on the sweet spot and generate more distance. Counter-intuitive, I know.

Be more selective. Only swing at pitches middle to middle in in the upper part of the strike zone. Look for the hanging breaking ball or fastball that catches too much of the plate. Don't use guess pitch. If the pitches are coming in too fast for you to read, reduce pitch speed. Your reaction time / decision making will improve with practice.

does people feel using swing influence increase your chances with a hr?

Ditch guess pitch. You lock the PCI. What you want to do is have the middle of the PCI just under the ball. And get perfect timing, watch the ball leave the yard. I look for low fastballs and changeups that stay in the zone and don't drop off. Those ball get smashed.

I rarely ever use power swing. Maybe on 3-0, 3-1 counts but other than that I'm all about the X regular swing. Timing hitting as well

does swing influence even do anything? it seems anytime i use it the ball NEVER does what i influenced so i turned it off, this goes back to mlb 12 aswell.

most of my HR are from a guy leaving a curve high in the zone on normal swings, power swings i can barely put any out because i just end up hitting it right at someone
