After doing that, I set injuries back to "on" so new injuries can occur in my franchise.

After setting the injury you can put the players on the 15 or 60 day DL.

Hope that helps. Other than the initial injuries, I'm gonna let my franchise play out as it will.
    Great. Thanks for this!!

I've always believed that franchises should be considered an alternate reality, type of experience, that has some semblance of the real thing but enough to make it unique. After all, if you try to make it so real-life like you would get the exact same results right? In that case you may as well just watch your favorite team on TV, or in a CPU vs. CPU game lol.
Your last point is what I've believed for awhile. People freak out when Derek Jeter gets traded from the Yankees. Yes, that would never happen in real life because of what Jeter means to the Yankees. But this is a video game, the CPU sees Jeter as a short stop with x contact, x power, x fielding, etc. If it makes sense to trade him, they might. Also, this is actually a psychological theory. Maximizing vs. Satisfaction. The problem is, we have so many freaking choices with the show that we try to tweak it to be the BEST possible franchise or whatever with the best sliders, best rosters, best lineups, etc. That's maximizing and usually leads to being anxious about your choices. Is this really the best setup? Is there something I missed? Satisficing is just making a good choice and moving on. It's REALLY hard to do with a lot of things, especially this game but it's best to just pick a roster, a slider set, and go with it and actually start playing some games. Hell, I even have Default roster franchises (usually a fantasy draft). And now that OSFM v1 is out, that's good enough to start my main franchise. maybe I'll do another later on with the final most updated version but this is good enough.

        Re: Lessons learned...go and play!

Great thread! In past years I had been apprehensive about starting a franchise without waiting for a couple of patches, even if there is not any big bugs detracting from the gameplay. However, this year I have decided to start my franchise today and use the OSFM v.1 roster! I am glad I finally decided to stop waiting for everything to be perfect, which it will never be. One other reason I have decided to do this is because I want to be at the same point in my franchise as the real MLB season is.

i seem to be movin in the opposite direction as u guys...in 09 i didnt know about osfm and started my franchise the day the game released, then in 2010 i did the same but then discovered osfm about a couple months into the season and decided to restart..and since then i seem to wait longer and longer each yr to start this yr being the longest as ive decided to wait for this hybrid roster that some other os ppl are putting together that sound pretty legit...and also because the patch did fix k/9 but not completely..its still a tad off..that being said, i guess i havent learned my lesson yet lol but i will tell u that i have completed a full 162 game season 3 times in my life w/o simming at all, once being on mlb 2k8 so im good when it comes to not restarting usually

Started franchise day 1. Went back and forth wanting to start over but didn't because we have 3 users involved. They would have if I wanted so I just never mentioned it. We 50 games in and after reading this I do feel better. How's a rookie with no MLB exp on the bench better than the swiss army knife Sean Rodriguez lol Thats ab all the OSFM does for me besides the pitch edits. Thanks alot wasnt expecting this much relief it was jus in the back of my mind.
I play MLB exclusively with my cousin. Usually looking for info on Franchises. We played minor league baseball as 9-10 YOs on the Zephyrs.

I've started my franchise over twice now.

First time I played 6 games (one a series) and was almost done with April. Found out about the bug with 25 man roster set so I started over.

Second time I got to about the same point in the season, but decided I wanted to try a different method than the one game per series.

So if I never started over I would be about two weeks into May already 😐

I broke my own rule and started over several times. Last night was the last restart though. One down, 161 (and hopefully more) to go.

I really would like to understand why guys do this? I have my share of OCD-issues when it comes to sliders and having minor leagues and stuff... but never, not a single time, have I ever restarted my franchise, any year, with any baseball game.

Unless I actually want a new franchise (eg: switch teams), there's nothing worth restarting over. I might completely change my sliders or something, but I just do it on the fly, and keep on moving along. I don't see the association with changing your sliders and needing to start over.

It always creeps up on my mind, primarily the reason is sliders and I feel oh wait now I've found the secret formula, all I'll have to do is restart and I'll have the perfect experience. But now, I just kind of change sliders on the fly and sim, that way I'll get into franchise mode more and experience the new training and scouting features. But it is a constantly waged war against OCD haha.

Yep I have also taken the approach to just play the game and enjoy it. The updates that guys do with stances and pitch edits is awesome but I am so busy at work doing 55 hours a week I just want to sit down with a hot cup of coffee and play baseball and not edit rosters with my little free time and restart again and again. But then again those pitch edits sure are awesome
