Re: MLB 14 Wishlist: General Gameplay?

    1. Would like the home run celebration cam (or similar cut scene) to include footage of balls that happen to land on specific ballpark targets (i.e. splash hits into McCovey Cove or the swimming pool at Chase Field).

    2. Would like ballpark specific features that keep track of accomplishments (such as the Splash Hits counter at AT&T Park) to be tallied indefinitely regardless of mode being played.

I think player models should be more diverse, in a way that they all don't look like they are the same weight. Some players fit differently in their unis, and I also think it would be cool to have the jersey move more when you are on the move.

Also, first person base-running would be an awesome feature for PS4, although it wouldn't really benefit anyone. Just a for fun feature.

        1. Customizable fielding animations similar to batting animations, but choosing sets of animations instead. Not all short stops throw the ball the same, not all outfielders fall forward and roll when throwing home. It doesn't need to be as expanded as something like NBA 2K, but having even a few categories would be amazing! The options for batters has been a breath of fresh air and this could also do the same thing. A few examples.

Throwing style: Sidearm, 3/4, over the top
Fielding style: Agile, general, lumbering. (i.e. lumbering could not rob a home run or make a jeter-esque play at SS)
Outfield diving style: face first, shoestring, sliding, etc.

        2. Improved catcher animations. With broadcast being the chosen way to play for a lot of people the catcher with the ball warping to his glove at the last second or setting up far away from where the ball cursor was has gotten very old. Making catchers at least have more diverse spots to set up before a pitch (high fastballs, actually set up right on the corner, etc) and frame close pitches would be more than enough to freshen up the catching animations. Maybe having a rating for framing could make it so not all catchers could frame pitches since some either don't or do so poorly so having them all frame the same might look weird. But if there is some way to get framing into the game it would make broadcast view even more fun to use.

MLB 14 Wishlist: General Gameplay if you could have any feature, addition, tweak what would it be? Remember you can only choose two.

          1. An option to control dives by moving the R3 button in the direction you want your fielder to dive.

          2. An option to chose how hard the pitcher pitches the ball using the pulse pitching. Maybe by leaving your thumb on the button during the windup adds a bit more strength on the pitch.

            1. For defensive positioning, give us the option to "Shade" infielders or outfielders left or right. now you only have shift and extreme shift. shade could be somewhere in the middle. And please NEVER change the current screen you have where we see the field and the players when we change our players defensive positioning. It is FABULOUS!!

            2. after each game, give us a "homerun highlight reel" alongside the current game highlight reel. the HR highlight reel could show replays of all HR's hit in the game, the distance of the homerun on the screen, who the pitcher was, who the hitter was, how many outs there were at the time, the inning, and whether it was a solo or a grand slam, etc. Also, in the post-game replay vault, it would be cool if the HR distance would be included in the text that tells us what the play result is. And bring back the Team LOB for the Game Log and add RISP (Runners-In-Scoring-Position) and 2-Out Runs Scored Also.

And when a guy hits a HR during a game, it should show the HR Distance Every Time!! It does not do that now and I think that is ridiculous that we cannot see the distance each time.

            Thanks Rus.

              1. An option to use Timing hitting on the right stick. So like pure analog but without aiming left or right.

              2. OK, a second one. The CPU throwing less strikes on the lower difficulty levels. Frustrating playing the CPU and seeing a pitcher who averages 5 walks a game come in and throw nothing but strikes.

                1. Have the CPU fielders adjust defensively based on a hitter's push pull tendency.

                2. Something needs to be changed with the outfielders so batters don't keep getting thrown out by 10 feet trying to get a double. Even with average speed guys when you hit a ball passed the right fielder to the wall in real life they are more times then not an automatic double. But in MLB 13 The Show and early versions I get thrown out by like 10 feet sometimes and this is just not very realistic at all. Even a really slow runner would most likely make it a close play at second on these type of hits in real life. I don't know if the outfielders arms are to strong or maybe they play the ball off the wall to perfectly or what but something needs to be changed that's for sure.

                    1) I would like to see the option to relocate and build new stadiums in franchise

                    2) home team announcers like for the Blue Jays have Buck Martinez commentating the game

                      1. Allow us to cut the ball mid-throw from the outfield and redirect the throw if necessary.

                      2. Same as above as this is the most glaring omission in gameplay that I can think of.

Re: MLB 14 Wishlist: General Gameplay!

                        1. Some sort of ratings-based in-game pitch recognition. I'm not sure how well it would work with the guess pitch mechanic, or if it would need to be an alternate option. Maybe highlight pitches/zones in a similar manner to guess pitch (though different colors for different pitch types, e.g. red=fast, green=breaking, blue=change/slow/knuckle), but don't give the player whatever bonus there is from guessing.

If I'm at the plate with Adam Dunn, it should not be nearly the same experience as being up there with Josh Hamilton. There should be some tip offs to pitch type and/or location possible. Josh Hamilton swung at 45% of pitches thrown out of the zone to him last year, so his ability to get a tip for location should be nil; Dunn swung at only 25% such pitches so maybe his ability to tip those pitches is higher, but he still strikes out a ton so maybe he doesn't get as good pitch recognition or just keep the PCI small; then someone like Kevin Youkilis has the ability to tip pitch type and location.

I'm not saying to give exact pitch locations, or to give location/type on every pitch, definitely neither of those. But give us a ratings-based way to draw more walks with the guys who should be getting them. The existing vision and discipline ratings would probably be fine, there just needs to be something in the batting interface based on those values.

                        2. Gesture-based analog pitching similar to 2K.

This is one of the few great things in the 2K games. If I'm just throwing a straight fastball, down-up on the analog stick is fine. If I want to throw a curveball, make me work for it - have me rotate the analog stick, and depending on how close I am to the correct start/end points, have that effect the break of the pitch (there does need to be a timing/power component as well).

Have different gestures for as many pitches as possible, too. Curves should all have a similar movement, but the exact one for a 12-6 curve should be different from a "10-4" curveball.

There needs to be more hard hit balls where the outfielder has to go on a dead on sprint to catch the ball, triggering a new animation in which the outfielder will crash into the wall.
