Yup curves are rough. Although Andy Pettitte's sweeping curve is like death on right handed hitters that are down in the count. I start that bad boy out of the zone far left breaking down and in towards the hitter and I've been surprised how many guys chase it.

Re: Classic pitchers.
Question (I may start a thread relating to this, but I figured I'd start here):
Do any of you raise the Starter Stamina slider at all?
Granted, I just wrapped up a 20 game stretch without a day off but this started pretty early on during it...
My pitchers are getting the "running out of energy" memo at 68-79 pitches. Even with full stamina bars (which most players didn't have during this run), I'm still seeing it earlier than I have in years past...making it tough to get K's late in the game (and outs for that matter too).
Low stamina seems to have a pretty noticeable impact this year. Anyone have any opinions on this?Comment

Re: Classic pitchers.
Good question, I've noticed that it seems to flash that message even if my guys still have enough energy left to continue on. Especially if you give up a late home run it seems to almost always flash in that situation.Question (I may start a thread relating to this, but I figured I'd start here):

As for sliders I'm using Armor & Sword's without any deviation as of yet.Comment

It's just so odd seeing a guy with 4 days rest get relatively exhausted at under 70 pitches; definitely exhausted at just under 90...
And it's not like I'm maxing pitches too often...maybe once per inning if I had to guess?
Again, before this 20 game stretch, Default seemed perfect (meaning I think it works well when a starter starts a game with a max energy bar). But now, at 80 pitches I'm struggling a little more than I'd like.Last edited by Heroesandvillains; 04-18-2013, 01:03 PM.Comment

Re: Classic pitchers.
I have used meter ever since I first started playing The Show. This year, it seems meter doesn't punish you as much for missing the mark. I recently started my Mariners franchise using OSFM rosters with ArmorandSwords sliders, King Felix had 14 k's and no walks in eight innings. Through four games, I have only given up one walk while striking out 34. I am definitely making the switch to classic tonight, hopefully I don't throw the controller through the TV!!Comment

It's a lot more fun for me using classic pitching. Although Harvey is not King Felix, in my Mets franchise I can dominate for about 6 innings and then he starts missing the mark and gets into trouble.I have used meter ever since I first started playing The Show. His line was 2BB, 10K's, 2ER in 7 innings.Comment

I go with starter stamina at 6 and reliever stamina at 1.
When you fast-forward innings, the best setting is 1 for both starter/reliever stamina.
I play on All-Star and I Classic pitch with my pitcher control/consistency at 2 each. I use Sean Jeezy's pitches, so I have edited the ratings of all hitter/pitchers and have given all pitchers there correct pitches and used each pitchers BB/9 to rate individual pitch controls.
I never hit and I only pitch. I have spent all my energy with this game looking at the pitching aspects of the game, and I have found great success and a lot of fun.
I also have sliders that I have not posted yet. If anyone wants them, I can put them in the Vault.
Great Thread ....

6 doesn't seem to be so uncommon around here. I may give it a go (I actually used 6 last year and loved the results).I go with starter stamina at 6 and reliever stamina at 1.

Did you adjust any pitcher ratings that would have impacted their stamina?Comment

Re: Classic pitchers.
I re-rated pitchers accurately, according to Knight's chart.
I left the Stamina at SCEA default.
Six is best, HV. If you fast-forward the cpu pitching or your pitching, Starter Stamina should be 1.
Reliever Stamina is best at 1.Comment

Re: Classic pitchers.
Okay, I switched over to Classic from Pulse and I may stay. I struck out 7 and walked 6 with King Felix, which is awesome. Slightly more walks than I had been giving up, and a ****ton more Ks.
BUT.
I still don't fully understand why the ball goes where it does, and what depends on my button press. I read the thread H&B linked to in the first page, but there was more discussion than actual concrete guidance for my tastes.
It seemed like I was having the most luck by timing my release to the leg kick of the pitcher, but maybe that was all in my head. Tapping the button was useless, as it would inevitably end up a wildly thrown ball. So? Where's the inbetween? Shouldn't the low-effort button TAP result in a easily thrown but highly accurate pitch? Why is the "max pitch" rumble so quick? Is it actually the 100% mark and there's nothing beyond that?Comment

I agree, and use the same.Comment

Re: Classic pitchers.
With the guys asking about curveballs, I tend to throw them mostly with max effort. I usually get covered when I groove them. That last sentence changes when I have high confidence in the pitch. When I get into grooves with a hammer, I tend to accumulate muy Ks.
