A gripe of mine is comebackers to the pitcher with men on base. Like bases loaded no outs, sharp grounder that the pitcher gobbles up. I throw home but the pitcher takes all day to throw and I barely get the force at home on what should have been a 1-2-3 double play.

the more im playing the more weird things i see, i feel this thread should be much bigger as it is.
just now i had a play where the 1st basemen was diving for a weakly hit ball, of course he missed it, while there was never any doubt for me that the 2nd basemen would have 0 problem getting to it. which he did of course, but unfortunately 1st base was uncovered and it ended up being a single. just one the weird plays that i cant imagine to see in real life any time soon.Spending time with Jesus!

Now I wouldn't say this play happens everyday or anything, but it is a fairly common mistake that I have seen plenty of times this year alone. If the pitcher doesn't move right away and the 1B tries for a diving play, the bag is often left uncovered. And unless the pitcher hustles and the runner is lazily jogging along, there's a high percentage that the runner will be safe because of it.just now i had a play where the 1st basemen was diving for a weakly hit ball, of course he missed it, while there was never any doubt for me that the 2nd basemen would have 0 problem getting to it. which he did of course, but unfortunately 1st base was uncovered and it ended up being a single. just one the weird plays that i cant imagine to see in real life any time soon.Check out my Houston Astros Dynasties:

Re: The fielding in this game has frustrated me to no end
It's not that big because there isn't really any controversy lol.
I think everyone in the world already knows the fielding in The Show has a lot of room for improvement. Nothing wrong with making a thread about it, please don't think I'm criticizing you at all... just saying there isn't really much more to add to the thread or conversation at this point.Comment

Re: The fielding in this game has frustrated me to no end
It could be worse. Fielding could be massively buggy like it is in my game.
My fielders always run the wrong way, throw to the wrong base, and make errant throws regardless of what I do.Comment

Re: The fielding in this game has frustrated me to no end
Are your fielding/throwing controls both on manual?Comment
-
Re: The fielding in this game has frustrated me to no end
Yeah everything is manual.
I stopped playing a while ago because my outfielders would run in when the ball is hit 100 feet over their head, infielders would run in the exact opposite direction of a ground ball, throw to the wrong base, dive/jump out of nowhere, catchers would try to pick off a runner on 1st base by throwing the ball to 2nd base (lol), and the button accuracy meter would show up red without having the chance to do anything about it. Fired the game up again today after a data reinstall, same thing.
So
to everyone that's complaining about their fielding.

Re: The fielding in this game has frustrated me to no end
That's what I thought when it started giving me problems but I've tried several controllers. Plus I play '12 once in a while and a bunch of other games that work like a charm.
I can just assume I'm the lucky one that pre-ordered the buggiest copy of The Show that exists.

Are you playing with Analog throwing? Try buttons. That's what I thought when it started giving me problems but I've tried several controllers. Plus I play '12 once in a while and a bunch of other games that work like a charm.

As for running the wrong direction, try waiting longer to start controlling your fielders. Let the camera finish turning around first.Comment

Re: The fielding in this game has frustrated me to no end
I use buttons. I'm sure the camera thing isn't the cause. I've been playing TS since '06 and have never encountered any of this stuff in any other game. Most common is my fielder will start running toward the play like he's supposed to but then turn around and run the opposite way in mid-play. And it just seems to get worse as the game goes on.
The funniest is when my infielders will randomly jump after someone drops a bunt down.Comment

really hope well get some improvements in that area, despite there isnt much talk about it. i mean fielding is a pretty big and important area of the game and it having those issues that it has right now is kind of dragging down the overall impression of this game.Spending time with Jesus!

Re: The fielding in this game has frustrated me to no end
I don't think this is even a flaw or glitch in the fielding. The pitcher probably didn't think anyone was going to get the ball, therefore he was late covering the bag or didn't think he needed to cover the bag. Maybe he thought the 1st baseman could get up and cover it in time.
It happens in real life a decent amount of times through out the year. I wouldn't let a play like that change your opinion of the game.Denver Broncos

Re: The fielding in this game has frustrated me to no end
biggest issue with that play was that the 1st baseman was diving for a ball he had, at least in my opinion, no business to dive for. it was pretty much at the 2nd baseman and he could field it more than easily. think you'd have to see it yourself. obviously it's justmy subjective evaluation of that play. but i have watched quite a few baseball games in my life and my reaction was like "what the heck" lol..I don't think this is even a flaw or glitch in the fielding. Re: The fielding in this game has frustrated me to no end
I play with the Braves, and Uggla is a source of my agitation. Of course being rated as a 24 in fielding will do that. And Chris Johnson manning the opposite corner doesn't help either. I think it all comes down to ratings. Freeman has a little better rating, and I see him get to those hot shots from time-to-time. Johnson, rarely is he close on anything. I just take it as, two years into my franchise, it's time to put Uggla out to the pasture. I just don't have enough bench spots to sub Gattis, Uggla, and Johnson out for defensive replacements. MLB teams do it all the time in real life. I've seen Gattis out as early as the 6th. Don't be afraid to pull late for defense. I do it religiously now.Comment
