The main reason I will not buy a console upon it's release is......the games are not fully realized.

I remember buying the PS on launch......took a couple of years to really get the sports games playing right.

Bought the PS2 on launch was was really bummed about the sports games till freaking 2004. That is 4 years to really say....wow the sports games kill.

So lesson learned on the first 2 Playstation systems.

Waited for the PS3 till August of 2009 and was superbly happy I did. I picked up The Show 09 and then the next year I was able to get 2K11 and of course pick up all the great non sports games on the cheap.

I will again do the same with the PS4....I am in no rush. And for me it has nothing to do with the money.....it is just wisdom gained from my gaming life which started with a 200 dollar Atari 2600 system.

Yes 200 bucks back in 1983. That was a lot of coin for my Dad to lay out for a crappy 2600!

Ahhh the memories.

I'll get it on launch but i can see why some don't especially with hardware failures happening with the first systems that come out

I really have no intention of upgrading to a PS4 immediately but if The Show 14 for the new console is incredibly better graphically than the new version coming for the PS3 I might just be tempted. I think I will just wait until they offer a machine with terabyte sized hard drive.

I saw some footage of Black Flag with a side by side comparison of the 360 PS3 and PS4 running side by side and I was not that impressed by the difference. Maybe The Show developers have done a better job than the guys who did AC4 at Ubisoft.

I really want to see a massive difference in the way games look before springing for a new console. The PS3 does a great job now.

I really have no intention of upgrading to a PS4 immediately but if The Show 14 for the new console is incredibly better graphically than the new version coming for the PS3 I might just be tempted. I think I will just wait until they offer a machine with terabyte sized hard drive.

There's two big differences between the circumstances of Black Flag and those of The Show, though:

1. Black Flag is a port made before the PS4, that is then being copied over to the PS4. The most obvious proof of this is that the PS3 version is already released, while the PS4 version is nowhere near completion. That demonstrates they clearly focused on the PS3 version and then adapted after the fact. The Show is being made for the PS4. I can't really say "from scratch" because you know it already existed last year... but it practically is.

2. Black Flag is made by a third-party entity (Ubisoft I believe), and thus did not have nearly as much time with a PS4 as SCEA and Sony would have. They probably were not even told about it very early. Sony can't really assume every single game developer in existence is trustworthy and can keep secrets. At some point you have to protect your own interests and keep some information from other companies, even if those companies are not competitors.

Has nothing to do with elite statuses. Homeboy has already made his decision to not buy this game on next gen and is being a sour puss about it for everyone else. Well, if I'm not going to get a ps4, I'm just gonna rain on everyone else's parade and be negative in every thread related to ps4.

PS4 V1. Cant play MP3, MP4, CDs, so that means no Sounds of The Show, no listening to your own music loaded from your own CDs or your own iTunes account. Any music you own that you want to hear as you play must be repurchased through the Unlimited Play Store.

No client functionality for media servers. So no streaming music or movies from your home network.

Anything you purchased from the PS3 PSN will not cross over to the PS4 PSN including music, movies, games, Avatars & Dynamic Themes.

Enough for me to wait for a future version of the PS4!

Honestly though this is not why you get a PS4 it's a gaming console

I will respectfully disagree with you.

We live in an electronic age where not one single device performs only one task.
We have Computers, TV, Radio, Phone, Camera, Internet, Movies, Videos & Games all on one device in the palm of our hands and in one device on our desk. This brings it to one device on our entertainment center and any device that doesnt perform all these tasks, is considered sub standard.

BUT! If you only want it as a gaming console, then thats your choice and your right and I wont begrudge you that.
Me personally, I want what I already have in the PS3 to not be taken away for the same price tag.
If it is, then I simply wont buy it until its available.

No harm, no foul.
