Re: Sounds of the Show possibly dead on Next-Gen
Will Sony add in DLNA? MP3? At some point, probably, but not for certain. I still haven't seen a respected or reliable source that Sony has done anything more than talk about it. The two sources in this thread translate "I'll bring it up" and "happy you liked those features in the past" into "confirmed, we are doing it again". Just because I'm happy that you liked Police Academy 8 does not mean that I'm going to invest in making Police Academy 9, know what I mean?
People forget that Sony sells these things for cost, essentially, and hope to make money by licensing the games sold on the system. For them, the game is priority #1 as one console user can buy dozens of games. I understand that. As far as selling more consoles, though, I think more features like MP3/DLNA would accomplish that than sharing your scores on Facebook will.Comment

Pretty sure Sony is going to add this not too long after launch, they know many people sue these features and PS3 was really popular as a media device as well as a game console.
Sony focused on GAmes and game features at launch, which is Smart imo, as that who is buying them at launch.Comment

Re: Sounds of the Show possibly dead on Next-Gen
Not true. PS3 did come as a fully equipped media server on launch. I got a launch day PS3 and specifically remember that as being a huge selling point to the wife to explain why I wanted to spend that kind of money on a video game system. When I explained that it was more than a video game system, she was on board with me. As a matter of fact, I still have that exact PS3 from 7-8 years ago. No YLOD or anything.

Re: Sounds of the Show possibly dead on Next-Gen
Honestly, I didn't use SotS much, so if it "is" dead (though I can't imaging Sony staying with the whole no MP3 support thing... I know that people have linked to a site I've never heard of, but until I see it from a credible source, I'm just assuming they have no plans to bring back MP3 support) I won't be too crushed.
I have a smartphone. I have music on my smartphone. I can just play the music on my smartphone. Not a deal breaker or a big deal for me.-the least famous person you've never heard of.Comment

Re: Sounds of the Show possibly dead on Next-Gen
I get the argument that people want a "gaming" console. Fine. Then only use it for games. But there are other people that want it for more than just games and they want the full available technology and buying an XB1 is so far out of the question that its irrelevant even to suggest it.
There is nothing wrong with catering to the masses especially when they are as vocal about this issue as they are.
If its not in the PS4 launch then I would hope at some point it is added to an update. I know MLBTS is not the only game that allows you to add music to the game.Comment

Re: Sounds of the Show possibly dead on Next-Gen
This is irrelevant whether correct or not
That's what the main point I made. I do not bame Curahee for feeling like this is overlooked or a step back or to not trust them to put this in later. Sony is mishandling it completely and not to be completely trusted if the past is indicative of the future. I'm sick of getting unfinished products that require updates out of the box. It is reflective to quality and validates concerns that this being rushed prematurely to meet a christmas deadline will have long-term consequences. My solution is that I will not be getting a PS4 until these concerns are sufficiently addressed. MLB14 will be coming out on PS3 as well, you know...
It's not a question of an unfinished product.
They DO NOT want to add those supports in order to push sales onto another section of their company.
If added later...it would be because too many people complain.
So at least be mad for the right reason.

Re: Sounds of the Show possibly dead on Next-Gen
You guys really love the conspiracy theories...
Do you remember the PS3 launch? That thing had like 400 features, cost like a gazillion bucks, and no one bought it.
Is Sony not allowed to learn from that?
Maybe they just decided they would minimize "side-features" in the PS4 simply to keep the cost of the PS4 down.Comment
