Re: Why don't they use correct player contract length and salaries
This is such an easy fix, if MLB doesn't want real contracts in the game.
Editable contracts.
Or maybe MLB doesn't want editable contracts either.Comment

Re: Why don't they use correct player contract length and salaries
Well....like I said.....Kolbe stated there was never a reason given, so it was speculation about that being the reason.
This was some time ago at CD.....so I can't remember exactly what he said either to be honest.
I just remember asking about salaries/contract length and why they weren't real life totals....and if we could have them be editable.
I don't remember if the MLB didn't want them editable(like they don't want player info editable) or not.
You'd be surprised at just how restrictive the MLB is in just about all their property aspects.

Re: Why don't they use correct player contract length and salaries
The big thing for me has always been that the years are correct. . Which they are. .. and the salaries are proportional. .. which they need work....
They know we want better salaries... so whatever movement towards realistic numbers (that they can do) I'm sure they'll try. I've really been on about editing them as well.

Now that is something that I didn't know. Once I start in April or May I dont start over. I just rolled with it. That's a minimal issue for me, but I understand the license situationComment

[quote=Curahee;2045767991]I think youre reading too much into it. The contracts are of public record to the point of being searchable on Google and released by almost every sporting news entity.
Contracts are searchable but the game also replicates free agency that could become a problem if the AI in the game gets too close to reality. I suspect that is a reason they don't want the game to get too close to the real thing.≡Comment

Re: Why don't they use correct player contract length and salaries
Im sorry but that makes no sense.
If I can search the terms of the contract on the internet, then why would MLB care what the MLBTS AI does in the game AND what does the AI have to do with my ability to search the terms online?Comment

Re: Why don't they use correct player contract length and salaries
Well that certainly is the truth
I just think it has nothing to do with the AI and has more to do with licensing by MLB and the MLBPA.Last edited by Curahee; 12-15-2013, 10:52 PM.Comment

Re: Why don't they use correct player contract length and salaries
This though, this is just baffling. It drags the game down, albeit slightly. They are just hurting their own product. And for what again?
I wonder, have any of the developers bothered to simply ask, why?
Maybe if they presented a case to MLB/MLBPA that people want to see real life contracts so that they can step into their favorite franchise's situation and play it out for the next few years, perhaps then a change can be made.
It makes a difference, for the suspension of disbelief, which is what these games are. Contracts are important in franchise mode. When you see a guy you want to dump, a guy who in real life has just one year left, but who in the game has a three year deal it kind of saps some of the fun from it.Comment

Re: Why don't they use correct player contract length and salaries
My question though, is it part of the licensing agreement that SCEA not do this?
Maybe in order for the contracts to be included, SCEA would have to renegotiate the terms of their licensing agreement.
I mean I DONT KNOW, but Im just speculating here.
Theres gotta be a logical reason other than "We dont want you to."Comment
