I kind of lost you at the end, but a lot of people sim and I assume those are the people that want realistic contracts. I agree people that only play part of one season probably dont care about contracts, and they probably arent part of the discussion or dont care as you stated, that leaves everyone else that has been responding.

I like simming a lot and the accuracy adds to the fun. I tend to sim the games but not through the off season. When playing multiple seasons, the off season is the fun part.

The other side of having editable contracts, and not really about exact contracts, is the fictional rosters people are getting into and me being one of them. I really like fictional rosters and the set up now restricts most players to be rookies with a minimal contract, editable contracts would fix a lot of issues (along with service time) but SCEA and Ramone have guidelines to follow, but if they have leeway or the ability to add this stuff Im obviously all for it.

      Simple as that.

I don't know if such scales and rankings are also prohibited by MLB but I can dream!
I think this is due to the currency in the game being tied to overall rating of the player and which team he is on. When they do the player ratings adjustments every other week, the player salary changes as well.
I dont remember there names but they were allot of fun....

Agree 100%. The lack of scaling is a sore spot for me. I alos think you should have more control over your budget and making money (don't understand why they took out ticket prices, etc.) I've always enjoyed the extra things besides just playing the game

Once again, not having accurate or scalable salaries is the one thing keeping me from buying this game. Why go through the hassle of offseason contracts or trades when none of the teams are really feeling the true effects of the player contracts?

Someone like Jayson Werth could be making $2mil/yr and Bryce Harper is making $13mil/yr which is not a true reflection of reality at all. Because of this, the trades and free agency is all bogus then to me. I believe the trade logic would be vastly improved if the teams had to actually seriously consider talent + salary obligations that reflect real-life.

At the very least this game needs editable contracts/budgets.

It's relative for the most part. Team budgets are lowered as well. Contracts are editable but if you try to match them with real life you will cause issues. Budgets should be editable as well I agree. It's just how things will always be unless you talk to MLB directly and get them to budge. Good luck!

This is my biggest gripe with the game, and its gotten to be a killer. When I first started playing the game in 07 or 08, the salaries weren't all right, but they were a lot closer than they are today, except for fictional players who were there to replace real ones who weren't part of MLBPA. As the years have gone on, its gotten worse and worse, to the point that last years' game became unplayable for the offseason for me. I traded the game in a few months after I bought it, sadly.

While the gameplay and presentation of The Show are awesome, Id say that about half of my enjoyment comes from playing as the Owner/GM. The fact that other sports games, such as Madden or NHL get contracts that are about 95% correct and The Show can't is painful. Add to that the fact that they gutted the Owner aspects from last years game, and they may have lost me. Which I'm depressed about.
Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.

After playing Out Of The Park for so long, The Show's Franchise management just feels broken in comparison. I understand that it isn't the focus of The Show - the on-field play is and it does that incredibly well. But the trade AI, lack of proper numbers, lack of prospects, etc really dashes any motivation for me to start a franchise and play it through a number of years.
