Re: The Future of the RTTS Mode
Right i don't care how repetitive it might get i need that constant talking from the commentators when im pitching or batting the silence and just fans noises really made it boring at timesComment

Honestly, I think the only reason they removed it was to free up memory. They were pretty maxed out, if I understand correctly.Comment

Re: The Future of the RTTS Mode
There is a lot that can be done to this mode to help improve it. I am glad to hear that they want to do a rookie showcase as it seems. And improve the draft. Hopefully next the put low A and high A in next. They need to make it harder to get to the Majors. I understand yeah you are a phenom and some teams might need (insert your characters position here) In example to this. I made a starting pitcher. Was drafted by the tigers who didn't really need to bring me up fast. I made it up the same year to a crowded rotation. If I had been drafted by the orioles I could understand the fast call up. Or any other team with a bad pitching rotation in need of quick help. I would like to see the draft by team needs better. Sometimes you get drafted by a team and your like. Why did they draft me? I am not needed here at all.Comment

Re: The Future of the RTTS Mode
To be fair, in baseball, its the longest road to the show and most teams dont draft by positional need because of the time and uncertainty of busts. You usually always go with best talent, because you will more than likely bust or be traded anyway before you play for the team that drafts you. The only time you dont see that is pitching. You always need pitching and so does everyone else.
I think this is just magnified in the show because there are only 3 levels and people want to get called up as soon as they are good enough, which in real baseball isnt for at least 2-4 years, most dont want to play in the minors for 2-4 years if they are already MLB ready. adding in low A and HI A and making the minors enjoyable to play (as much as it can be) would make the timeline more realistic.Last edited by MLB Bob; 01-10-2014, 05:01 PM.Comment

Re: The Future of the RTTS Mode
I like all the ideas on this thread. RTTS is pretty much the only mode I play on MLB The Show, I play around with Franchise a bit, but RTTS is my favorite video game mode ever and it is the sole reason why I purchased a PS3 and also why I will buy a PS4 in the Spring. Something I would love to see in the game are player personalities. Some examples are you can choose to be a flashy show off player(Yasiel Puig) and throw your bat 30 feet in the air and throw your hands up everytime you square up the ball. Or a non-hustle player and casually jog down the line on ground balls, and not hustle when you don't have to (Cano). Or a player that gives his all on every play and plays the old school way for the love of the game (Mike Trout). Just some examples and I understand it would be tough to do in a video game...just something i'd like to see.Minnesota Vikings

Re: The Future of the RTTS Mode
Another thing i would like to add would be the money you get from your contract can actually be used to buy something if it's training points or some special gear something like thatComment

Re: The Future of the RTTS Mode
Since they are bringing in "universal currency" Id like my millions of dollars buy some universal currency, I dont want to be paid in UC I just want to be able to buy it with my fake millions..even if 10,000,000 only gets me $1 of real universal currency or whatever...it would kinda be lame to get paid in UC and see contracts for your team in dollars and my contract in unrelated UC..Comment

Re: The Future of the RTTS Mode
Some GREAT ideas in this thread. One thing I'd like to contribute though, that hasn't been mentioned. You're all talking about starting in high school and playing through some HS games to determine your skills. While that does sound like fun, it alienates people who want to create older players. I don't want every character I create to be 18 to start the game. Usually I'll create one player as myself and make him my actual age (32 this season) and then I'll create a made up character and make him 18, so I can get to the majors at a young age.
What I'd suggest is that for 18 year old players, you go through a high school state championship tournament (and let us pick the state we play for), for college ages you go through some kind of college championships (whatever you could do without upsetting any college trademarks like College World Series or whatever), and for older players you have them play in a Fall League or Winter Ball championship series. This way, any age player gets the same experience and same skill building. Also the older players should skip the draft process and just get offered a minor league contract or a spring training non-roster invite. Something to differentiate them.
I imagine I'm not the only one who DOESN'T want to always start as some young phenom. I really like creating myself at my own age and seeing if I can make a productive career for myself.Comment

However, I believe your solution is quite elegant and even more so, exciting. I'm tempted to just say lets make high school, college, and walk on try outs all a part of the process! I think if I was the sole creative designer to RTTS, I would implement all of them.
There are players that come to the pros directly from high school and through the minors, but there are those who make it all the way through college without even getting a look. I personally know a guy who did just that and finally broke through after a try out with the Milwaukee Brewers. He had a cup of coffee in the Bigs, but the story of an undrafted All American collegiate player walking onto to a Major League organization is awesome in itself.
Being conservative, I think it's a lot to ask for. If we can get our foot in the door with the idea of high school, maybe we can ask for more down the road. Perhaps then, the solution to your problem is a simple try out. Example, batting practice, fielding drills, simulated game. That could be the process that creates your attributes organically even if youre creating that 35 year old late bloomer.
While I'm here....lets talk Universal Currency.
My knee jerk reaction when reading the news was something in between fear, shock, and concern. Boy, that sounds a lot like Virtual Currency. I reeled it back in, and considered, hoped it is not what it looks like.
We spend a lot of time calling for the developers to take a good long look at the NBA 2k series for inspiration regarding our beloved RTTS mode. If all they pulled from that is virtual currency, disappointment wouldn't do my feelings justice.
The 2k series has been blasted* by the media for monetizing everything from roster moves to created player gear.

You pay $60 for a new title and when you get to the point of doing the things you have done for years, only to find that the developers start asking for more money is sickening. In NBA 2k, you want to throw a head band on your guy? Get out the credit card. Micro-transactions have become a cancer in the gaming industry and its particularly troubling to see the sports genre rallying behind this business model to charge players for things they got with the initial $60 investment. Particularly considering the players who buy the annual title each release date to receive minor graphics tweaks, roster updates, and small additions to game modes is a huge slap in the face.
Now...
I should be clear. This is all speculation, and I could be completely wrong! I hope I am!
The flip side is that "Universal Currency' could just be a title that encompasses everything from XP to the money in contracts. Just as we had asked for! They could simply be taking the money you earn from contracts and turn that into 'Universal Currency' to be used from everything from attributes, to gear, to everything in between.
I hate to sound accusatory towards our beloved developers, and be another 'complaining gamer', but I feel I would be a miss to not share my concerns.
Here's looking forward to more news...
Cheers.Comment

Re: The Future of the RTTS Mode
On creating your player I would like to start off as a 16 year old international prospect as an option. The other day I was watching that Documentary Ballplayer Pelotero about Miguel Sano and this other kid Jean Carlos Batista trying to sign a contract with a team they were all doing workouts for various teams. The show already asks us if our player is U.S born or not but it would add a bit to the experience if we made our player born outside of the U.S we wouldn't go through the draft but do workouts and tryouts for various different teams until signing day.Comment

Re: The Future of the RTTS Mode
There should be a "Be the Ump" segment of RTTS.
Work yer way up to the bigs calling balls & strikes.
Miss too many calls & you'll be toiling away forever in the minors.
Or you too can be the next Ron Luciano!Comment

Re: The Future of the RTTS Mode
One thing this thread is doing is getting me excited for all these great ideas that I'll eventually be bummed because none of it will be in game..I'd love to start in HS and move through the minor league system, not just double a and triple a.
Here's hoping for one day..Favorites:
