the MLS has higher attendance numbers than both the NHL and NBA

attendance doesn't tell the whole story of popularity.

I'd disagree and argue that that's exactly how popularity works. If you go to work more it's because you value the idea of working (and making money) more than you value the idea of going to a ball game (and spending money).

Maybe in theory hockey is more interesting than basketball, but life doesn't exist only in theories. If people do something, it's because, all things considered, that's what they prefer to do.

No idea how or why we ended up on this topic though, lol.

There have been studies on this. A greater ratio of NHL fans attend games versus watch on TV in the NHL when compared to the NBA. But when you factor in jersey sales, television audiences, broadband out-of-network subscription services, etc., the NBA is more "popular."

Since I haven't played this game beyond the PS2 level, can someone explain what universal currency is?

It's how you pay for universal healthcare.

In the PS3 versions you have been able to purchase RTTS attribute points and Franchise Budget Dollars through the PSN. But if you wanted both, you had to buy them separately and use them separately.

Theoretically, Universal Currency means you spend money, buy X amount of points and use them in any mode as you see fit.

HOWEVER, there has been no official announcement as of yet, so every thought and prediction is a guess for now.

Potentially. That description fits VC pretty well also.

I made that connection previously. And was hung up, then tarred and feathered for being a heretic. LOL
But yes it does sound a lot like it. There have been guarantees that it won't have the same "issues" as VC does, but the reassuring comment was VERY vague.
So as of now with no other information being given, I am being cautiously optimistic. When more news comes out (hopefully sometime before Opening Day) we will see for sure what is the same and what is different.
