    Re: PCI Change

I completely understand the PCI and how it works.

It is either going to have an impact on gameplay or it is not. It can't not affect the hitter, but then affect the pitcher's strategy.

If it does have an impact then that is kind of silly since guys like Jay Bruce don't need a big PCI or they won't strike out much.

If it doesn't (like most seem to be saying) then it is "lying" and people are going to be confused when they have their PCI on the ball and completely whiff on it.

Vlad isn't really a good example to use either. He pretty much swung at anything and never let the count get deep. I am talking about guys like Adam Dunn, Jose Bautista, Jay Bruce, Chris Davis, Chris Carter, Pedro Alvarez, Mike Napoli, etc. who walked a decent amount, struck out a lot, hit for power, but not quite a high average.

Now if their PCI will be big as someone like Yadier Molina, Matt Carpenter, Pedroia, Cano, Trout, etc. and they won't be striking out 150+ times a season or once every 2-3 AB's.

However, if it is just visual then what is the point? Bautista's PCI might be big as Matt Carpenter's but they are going to work entirely different now and it is just going to confuse casual gamers.

I'd also like to add I am strictly talking about user vs user. The PCI already confused many as it is. I guess I don't understand this implementation, unless it applies to offline only. You don't see your opponent's PCI so I don't see how it affects their strategy. Obviously people know the difference between Juan Pierre and Adam Dunn.

That makes no sense at all. Is the PCI now going to be misleading and lie for someone that has high power?
Brian is the lead AI programmer. He said it is a visual change.

Perhaps the previous graphic wasn't accurate so Brian changed it to more accurately represent the batter's potential.

I use manage mode and mlbts '13 produced very realistic stats when playing the games. Manage mode is the best way to determine whether the AI has it right because it is cpu vs cpu, no human error introduced. I'm sure Brian realizes that and doesn't want to "fix" what isn't broken, therefore gameplay won't be impacted. The visual as been upgraded to more accurately reflect gameplay.

      Does that make sense?

I remember the day I finally figured it out. It was extremely frustrating..this was in '98 and you couldn't just go searching on the Interwebs for a guide like you can now. Good times.
