Re: MLB 14 The Show Video and Developer Blog - Quick Counts and Player Lock
Are you implying you already have a 96% now?
Oh wow you're right. I'm sure no one at SCEA thought of that while creating this feature. This is new and compelling information that needs to be relayed as soon as possible.
Now tell me more about how it's a problem if you let people bunt with 2 strikes, without penalty.
Yes. I played about 600 online rated games. I'd imagine I could, at least, double that with QC. I am not hating on it as I think it is an awesome idea, but I just don't think it belongs in online rated and that is just my opinion from personally playing 99 pct online only.Comment

I am sure time is a big part of it as well, but QC can definitely benefit the free swingers on the leaderboards.
And I know the developers think it is fair, but they honestly haven't logged and experienced as many online games as your hardcore online gamer.Comment

However, I'm not a competitive ranked online player, so I look at things from a different perspective. I can see the argument for not including it for ranked play, primarily as it relates to number of games completed (which could be accounted for). I think concerns of it skewing results are overstated and/or premature at this point.Comment

OK... but they'll also be put at a disadvantage when placed in two-strike counts. And since they swing at EVERYTHING, that seems like a pretty big deal.

Sure good players will win the games regardless, but if two evenly matched players face up and one gets shafted on the counts then that doesn't really seem fair. I know some may have different perspectives, but for someone that plays a lot of online I can see this being a little flaw.
I know it isn't a big deal, but I feel like if no one brings it up then it could be easily overlooked. Let's face it, this game always has simple bugs in the beginning and if it isn't for the community's feedback SCEA would not know. I know a few of the developers play online, but they really don't have time to play it as much as some. I just believe consumer feedback is the most crucial aspect in customer service. SCEA listens to their consumers more than any other sports title and it shows in their work.
I know they listen to both forums for all modes and that is one reason the online has dramatically improved the past 2 years.
Plus it is always better to be proactive than reactive.Comment

I'm curious as to how the progressive lighting will work with quick counts.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Video and Developer Blog - Quick Counts and Player Lock
I am extremely hopefully for quick counts. It sounds great because I earn more awards over the course of a baseball season than I do walks!
This will not only cut down the game time(which means I can play more games and seasons) but also give me a chance at getting into the actual game more. EX. drawing walks for a change, racking up the opposing pitcher's pitch count rather than altering my sliders, etc... And most of all, making the game more fun(if possible) by having a bigger opportunity to make things happen...
Can't wait for April!!!Comment

I think he meant the day to night transition. Like if it gets darker faster with quick counts because of the pitches you aren't seeing, passing the time faster.Comment

Yeah I should have been more specific. This is what I meant.Comment

No it doesn't have a noticeable effect.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Video and Developer Blog - Quick Counts and Player Lock
So if it is night game in May and you use QC it would get dark at the same pace as last year..that is, based on inning you are in versus # of pitches thrown?
I was also curious about how QC works with time of game. Will the time of game progress more realistically with QC (heck..even without QC)? Last year, for example, game times seemed shorter than normal. Most real AL games last about 3- 3-1/2 hrs and NL games 2-1/2 - 3 hrs. But game clock time in stadium was often shorter than that unless you played a 12 inning game. Thanks.Comment

I believe the light/shadows progress per batter so QC on or not shouldn't matter."When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation."Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Video and Developer Blog - Quick Counts and Player Lock
i'm sorry if this was asked anywhere else on this forum. i saw one person asked it and was re-directed to this thread, but i didn't see the answer here, either. with quick counts on, is there ever a scenario where the count is 0-0? if there is not, then i will not be using this feature. if there is, i'll at least try it. thanks. and sorry again, if this was asked anywhere else. i tried a quick search, as i said, but only found it asked once, and didn't find it answered.Comment
