You are stuck with the 162 game schedule (of course you don't actually have to play the games, you can sim them). In Season Mode you can play a 14 game season, a 29 game season, a 81 game season or play the full 162 game calendar. Plus you can play the full 9 innings all the way down to only 1 inning games.

So there are more configuration options in Season Mode (plus in Season Mode you can play more than one year). The only real down side to Season Mode is you can only control the 40 man roster for a given organization whereas in Franchise play you can control all the players in your MLB, AAA, AA and even class A roster (though I do not think you can play the class A games, you just have access to the players).
Thanks a lot for all this information. I think to start I might stick to season mode just to get a feel for the controls and game. Once I get better ill hop over to franchise mode.

If RTTS is your type of thing and you like to be able to control things like lineups, trades and free agency then you will want to get this years game. The new player lock feature lets you play the game from a first person perspective like RTTS but you're able to control everything in franchise mode.

In other sports game like ncaa I never played the road to glory (ncaa version of rtts) because it sucked and I always preferred dynasty mode.i usually dislike the modes where you can only control one player whether it was in nba 2k, madden, or ncaa but in the show it looks much better than those other games. I'll be playing season/franchise as my main gameplay with rtts on the side.

Personlly I preferred 12 over 13 due to the timing window being opened up for hitting in 2013. I thought it made offense way too easy in 13. I found myself scoring 8 and 9 runs a game on the more difficult levels. Especially once the computer went to the bullpen. You could tee off on relievers. With a few tweeks to the sliders in 12 you could make a very, very realistic game of baseball. Also the base running in 13 was completely jacked up. It was nearly impossible to score from second on a single, because runners would slow down to a crawl when rounding third. They either turned around and went back, or got thrown out at home plate. And we are talking about players like Ichiro, and Brett Gardner here. I absolutely loved 2012. As far as 13 goes, it was good but I never really fell in love with it. All this is just my opinion, so take it for what it's worth.

This. Also, if you use timing hitting, the PCI is so completely random that it's just not worth it.

For rtts I would go with 12. Sound is sometimes cut out in 13, home run celebration are better to see in 12

Didn't know exactly where to ask this.

                - Is there a mode like Ultimate Team in The Show? Or is that 'Diamond Dynasty'?

                - Also - I am getting the game (13) tonight or tomorrow so I can get used to game play as I've never played before. Is there a general thread to ask questions?

Yes I heard that Diamond dynasty is The Shows version of Ultimate team.

I would also like to know if there is a general thread for questions like in other forums on this site. I don't want to keep using this thread to keep asking all my questions since I have many.
