I'm sure it will get fixed, just sayin something as simple as getting hit by the CPU pitcher to cause a hang is a pretty glaring issue

As weak as it sounds I guess we have to turn of hit by pitch if possible until a fix? Is there an option? Mine is reserved in red box akready. Did it at 1230am. Hehe

Only 2 persons have encountered this "incident" so far. Let's wait and see. Might be a problem with their systems. 2 steps must be followed by them until the majority of users confirm the "bug":
1. Delete the 5gb or 10gb mandatory installation and try installing again. Test the game with both options and confirm the bug is still there.
2. Rebuild the PS3 database/hdd.

Yes try rebuilding database. If I recall there was an issue 2 or 3 years ago and the database rebuilt fixed it. Forget exactly how to do it. Just google it.

Also if re-installing the game and rebuilding the database don't work, the easiest way to see a HBP from the CPU would be to zero out CPU Consistency.

If people are still reporting this, I'll give it a go tonight.

In the meantime if you are seeing a bug like the one in the OP, please state whether:

1. Your game is physical or digital
2. Your platform
3. Your install size (10gb/5gb)
4. Your update version (unpatched, 1.08, etc)
5. Any other details such as stadium, game mode, night/day, etc.

If any more incidents are reported, I'll test it in the PM.

I'm curious if the animations you are seeing are new to MLB 14 Aroid or is the scenario identical as it was on PS3 when a batter gets hit?

To me this sounds very similar to the dropped 3rd strike catcher freeze issue, but in that case the game can continue once an event is triggered to do so. It sounds like whatever Aroid is experiencing puts the game in a loop and it can't get out of it. This wouldn't really be an issue with the install or data, but more with the game engine and what triggers it to get in this loop.

PS3 - Exhibition with QC, forget what teams. I was HBP'd by the CPU, no freeze.

I should point out that the two times it happened with me were before I had installed the 1.08 patch... which I have just installed now. (For some reason it wouldn't install last night.)

So, it could be that it is an out of the box issue??

Fingers crossed that it is one of the things the patch is for!!

I remember in mlb 12 I kept getting freezing issues. and thought it was the show then 1 month later my system just froze up and got the yellow Light of death... then the show 12 worked fine on the new console.. not saying this is your problem though. I haven't played a game yet to busy doing roster stuff

It's likely not since both the people saying they encountered this said its repeatable in specific situations. Hopefully this was just prepatch and they caught it for day 1. Sucks for offline players, but we're living in the age where games ship a bit more broken than in the past since Day-One patches have been accepted and less people are not connected online.

I would think if this was a wide spread problem, it would have more than 45 posts by now.
