Re: MLB 14 The Show Q&A with the Community
What you are saying is wrong. Batters are announced all the time and pulled back for a pinch hitter.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Q&A with the Community
I remember seeing in a baseball game many times where the manager would wait for batter to be announced before making pitching change. Why would the manager do this?Comment

I know this is taboo around these parts, but has anyone seen any hint of rubberband AI in this version's game? And by that I mean that if the user (or CPU) takes a lead, the team that's down almost always mounts some type of comeback to make things interesting.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Q&A with the Community
If a player is in the game and has already played, like a starting pitcher, they can announce his name and still take him out. So pinch hitting for your pitcher who has already appeared in the game is fine even if the pitcher has been announced as the hitter. For example: Say Jose Fernandez is coming to the plate in the 8th and the announcer calls his name, you can still pinch hit for him.
This prevents people from pinch hitting a lefty to face a righty, then when/if the other team counters with a LHP, they can't just bring back the lefty PH and put in a right handed hitter.
This doesn't happen very often because usually the PA guy is smart and realizes the pitcher is coming to the plate next, so he holds off on announcing his name expecting him to be PH for. Very rarely will you see the pitcher get all the way to the box to hit before the manager decides to take him out.

Hope that clears it up. Hard to type rules like this out in a clear manner.Last edited by BA2929; 04-02-2014, 08:53 PM."Baseball is the coolest sport because, at any moment, the catcher can stop the game and go tell the pitcher a secret" - Rob FeeComment

I'll clarify this rule:

So pinch hitting for your pitcher who has already appeared in the game is fine even if the pitcher has been announced as the hitter. For example: Say Jose Fernandez is coming to the plate in the 8th and the announcer calls his name, you can still pinch hit for him. However, once they announce the pinch hitters name he HAS to bat.
This prevents people from pinch hitting a lefty to face a righty, then when/if the other team counters with a LHP, they can't just bring back the lefty PH and put in a right handed hitter.

You're seeing the manager wait to see who the pinch hitter is going to be before making a change.

Ok so then my idea of delaying the PA Announcement for when the warning for pitch hitting for the pitcher pops up is actually a very good idea since like you say you hardly ever here the PA announcer announce the pitcher in this situation in real life. Right?Comment
