Re: MLB 14 The Show Q&A with the Community

So has anyone been able to get realistic CG numbers in their sims?

    Edit:

In a recent sim with default sliders, league high was 26 with an average of 15 per team (compared to a league high of 9 and an average of 4 per team in real life).

I've messed with the manager hook slider but then my high end IP numbers are affected, and if I try to offset that by boosting the stamina slider I end up right back where I started.

Does progression/regression no longer take place during the season but happens after the season instead in franchise? Just wondering 'cause after my first RTTS season, I didn't see movement in OVR until the offseason...
      T.K.

RTTS operates a little differently. It has an "adjusted overall" system that reflects a player's performance during the season, and the AI will make its decisions based on that (including your player's callups/send downs). So overall ratings do move up and down, but it's not exactly progression. AFAIK it doesn't move the underlying ratings until the offseason.

Can't answer about season, franchise progression, but tabarnes probably can.

Apologize if this has been asked already, but just curious if this year when you trade for a player in franchise if their stock photo remains or if they have a digital one like last year?

          thanks guys

It goes cyberface (with the updated uniform) when a player is traded or otherwise changes teams.

And sometimes when you move a player to his previous team, sometimes, it will have his real life picture with that team. E.g. I move Darin Mastrioani from the twins back to the bluejays when this transaction happened in real life and Darin appeared with his real life picture with the bluejays. Darin was with the bluejays last 3 years ago.

Its pretty cool when it happens..

I have a question: how does the league(CPU) Determines when your team is "rebuilding" or "push for the playoffs" or simply "normal" because I'm doing a franchise with the mets (OSFM rosters) and I'm sitting in second place in NL east, 7 games over .500 in mid may. But it keeps showing that my team is rebuilding.

                Can someone explain?

hey i was wondering what the deal is with giving/not giving players rest... is there anywhere that shows if position players need a day off, or do they just never need a day off?

When you hit start after setting your lineup, it might say "somebody looks tired" or similar.

Asked this in the ps4 thread but got no answer and it was in 13.

When pitching in the outfield or pitcher camera you could push down on the d-pad or right stick to get the camera to pull out so you could see second base. Are we still able to do this or was it removed ?

On ps4 i cant get it to work, have tried all sorts of camera options but no luck.

                          Guess pitch/location

Years ago when you guessed pitch and location it would let you know if you guessed one or the other correctly.

If I guessed fastball, but didn't get the location correct, it would still let me know the pitch was a fastball.

Is this not an option for MLB The Show 14?

                          I haven't played one in 2-3 years.

                          Thanks.

Change made last year: Double or nothing - you have to get both correct if you guess both.

Here's list of 'stuff' I've encountered.

I'm currently playing in season mode. I'm kind of controlling every team. So, the list of stuff is:

                              1. In season mode, you can't get LIVE rosters into a season correct? Too bad you can't - keeps the game live.

                              2. Fielding has a few glitches that I keep executing. I think quick throws are executed by holding L2 and then the base button all the while controlling the pressure of the throw?

                              3. Outfield relay throws. Again, I assume if you want the outfield to quickly get the ball in you have hit L2 while throwing to a base or cutoff?

                              4. Pitch Counts are off. I consistently see pitch counts that are way too high on pitchers that have been taken out of the game. I pitched Price for the Rays today and he was removed at 98 pitches. The end of the game stats had him at 135. I believe the 135 number is being used for a players stamina which can lead to tired pitchers and ultimately injuries.

                              5. Hitting - I rarely can pull a ball. I have to start messing which different pitch views. Right now I use 'catcher' which is catcher view dead center. I'd be interested to hear what some of you veterans use as far as pitch views.

                              6. Running - In whole different thread trying to nail this. I use 'assist' mode and find if you hit a shot in the gap and you press L1 to advanxce all - you need to keep L1 pressed until you want them stop. Once you release 'assist' mode kicks in and runners may stop. I can't confirm this yet but I've had situations where I'm pressing L1 and release only to have 2 guys at the same base. Unfrikin real. The pressing of the base for the runner and the corresponding d-pad base works like a charm. I believe using this provides the fastest baserunners. Not sure I can prove it though.

                              That's it.

Thanks in advance for any comments.
