      Takahashi Matsumoto Interview

I talk to Louisville Bats shortstop, Takahashi Matsumoto, on the adjustments he's had to make both on and off the field.

Does Spring Training affect your potential? I'm assuming it doesn't b/c im batting .182 1 HR and 5 RBI's in Spring Training and im still an A potential and it says playing: As expected. I'm sure by now i would be below or failing expectations if this was the regular season?

I may just play on my 2nd baseman instead of my 71 ovr SS my 2nd baseman is a 95 ovr in 2016. 2nd base and SS are so similar probably doesn't make sense to have a SS and 2B, or does it?

Another question does potential really matter? im guessing if you do poor enough and your potential goes down you will get benched? Cause i went from an A on my 2B to a B at the end of the year in 15 and i started on the bench in 2016, then started playing well so now im back in the starting lineup. I have a feeling i just answered my own question.

i kinda liked playing on the bench. I only played in a few games a week. I was playing 2B,RF,LF, and RF, but now that im back in the starting lineup im only playing 2B.

I want to move to CF perminatly, but the manager won't let me. I looked at the player comparison and Clint Fraizer is now in AAA for the team i play for. (Giants)

So i wonder if the game is smart enough to not let me switch, because he may get called up soon and that's his spot.

Rory McMahon is smashing his way towards the NL MVP at the age of 20. The slugging red-headed Irishman leads the league in average and homeruns but is in second for the RBI lead. Can he make up ground to claim the Triple Crown?

I'm having a lot of trouble fielding balls in front of the plate as a pitcher

I literally have no Idea how to run forward. I'll push 1 way and go the other way.

What am I doing wrong???? I've been playing since 07 but skipped 13 and got no idea what's up with these RTTS cameras

Re: MLB 14 The Show: Road to the Show Thread

I'm just past midway through my second season with my 1B RTTS player. Mind you, I am playing on some easy sliders, my numbers are monstrous. I don't say this to brag (I know I'm bad at normal settings), but just to put things into perspective for what ends up happening. Due to the sliders, my player is playing well above his ratings. He is currently rated 73 with an adjusted overall of 93. Contact is in the low 60's and power is in the low 70's. Vision, discipline and clutch are all above 75. He played the first half of the first season (55 games) in Double A ball before being called to the majors (bypassing Triple A). In 63 games, he ended up hitting 35 HR's, 81 RBI's while batting .402 and winning ROTY and Postseason MVP (we lost the World Series in game 6). This year, he's played in 94 games, with 45 HR's (41 before All-Star break), 118 RBI's while batting .459. I've been banking my training points for the entire season, only using them to bump up attribute's I want to move by 1 when they hit yellow status. Needless to say, the numbers put him up for AL MVP, Batting Title, Hank Aaron Award, and Silver Slugger. His numbers are also good enough for the Triple Crown.

Now to the meat of it. I'm playing for my favorite A's and we are in the middle of a playoff hunt (3 games behind the Angels). In the middle of a series with the Blue Jays (and a week before the trade deadline), my guy gets traded...to the Blue Jays. My guy, along with 2 A potential prospect SP's, traded for Edwin Encarnacion. This is obviously a trade by a team pushing for the playoffs giving up 3 young high potential prospects for a bonafide first basemen, all based on the overalls and not the seasons stats. Lesson learned...

You have to push up to go forward since the camera view is reversed vs regular gameplay.

The throwing might be reversed, too, depending on your setting (there's a setting for the reversed buttons (i.e. square = 1B) or regular throwing buttons (i.e. circle = 1B). I turned that to the regular since I play franchise a lot and was getting mixed up and having to think about the throws too much when I play RTTS right after playing franchise.

Rory McMahon's incredible season is rewarded with some impressive awards but his second-place finish for MVP was a shock to many. Will the best hitter in all of baseball focus his frustration on a deep playoff run, or will the Atlanta Braves fall short of the World Series at the hands of the Washington Nationals in the NLCS?

The best idea I have came up with for a RTTS guy is making a power 1B. After the showcase if you don't like the round u were drafted in or the team go back to school for 4 years and use the points to boost his power. Now your 22 and hopefully you have a better showcase. Sense your already 22 you may not make it to the majors until your 24. This makes it so you won't hit 800-1k homers in your big league career. This makes it more realistic. What do you think about this idea?

Created a left handed closer with a repertoire of knuckleball (main pitch), knuckle curve (secondary) and the vulcan change-up. Dude is doing pretty good leading the league in saves in AA. Leading vote getter and has blown 1 save. Only thing that I have a question on is, how can I get his potential up faster? I am not a person who is looking to get in the big leagues right now or next year. I am looking in like 3-5 years as my guy is only 18 and I got drafted by the Royals. Can anyone give me some advice? I know a lot of guys make guides on here. Are there any guides on the RTTS portion of the game? Thanks in advance.

Made a SS based off of Tulo. I liked the all around type ratings he had so that why I chose him. I made him 18 y/o as well.
In the Showcase I didn't record a single hit but played some pretty good defense and was drafted by the Twins with a C potential in the 5th round
I didn't like that so I decided to to go to JUCO for two years. In my second Showcase I had only 2 hits and played solid defense as well as ran the bases well. I was projected to go Mid 1st and got taken 17th (? I think) in the first round to the Washington Nationals. I signed and hit my first AA HR in my second game!
