Just wanted to note that I have played 13 games and there have been 10 No Doubt Homeruns. 8 of the no doubters were the new ugly celebration cam and only 2 were the old beautiful majestic cam.

Mmmmmmm 80% HR Cam. Well I am almost 40 games into my proper Yankees franchise. The ratio for me has been about 50/50.

But certainly not the 75% Majestic cam that was touted as patched. But then again…..I have 120+ games to go in year one.

I am happy they at least patched it back in for us.

The more I play……the more the blue ring under my players bothers me more and more. Far more than the HR cam thing. Clean screen was taken away for auto fielder's with manual throwing.

Baffling design choice…..just baffling. A wrong that will be righted for 15. So it is what it is for 14.

Explain what you mean. Didn't they always used to have some sort of ring, which I think was blue?

I use Auto Fielding with Throwing Decision: OFF and don't have a blue ring...

This is the first year it's been gone for me out of the last few...

AND:

As far as the camera goes:

I'm using SD and it's been Spring Training, but I've only seen the HR cam about 5 percent of the time...

I have no idea why either of the above is the case, but it is!



EDIT: Okay, you manually throw...that explains the first part...

Impossible. With auto fielding and manual throwing a blue ring shows up under your player.

it was confirmed by a Dev here they added that in this year……and you can't shut it off. The way you do not get a blue ring is auto throwing on.

It was a design decision. It was reported on the bug report and they will get a toggle in for next year to shut it off (hopefully).

On 13 it was never there. For 14 you can't shut it off if you want to make the throws for your defense.

I do now. LOL. I just could not get over that eye sore...I tried so hard. Then I turned auto throwing on......and it was.......tranquility now (as George Costanza's dad would say on Seinfeld). I just hope to god they remove that next year or at least have a fielder indicator toggle on/off.

Game is poetry in motion again for me.....with no blue rings!!!! BLECH!!!!!

So my gf walks in the house as I'm playing a game in my franchise..
"Hey babe playing ball?" "Wow that looks so real" "Why do they have that blue ring around the
players? It doesnt look right"

Even females with zero interest in baseball or video games get it..

Yeah, can someone actually explain to me what that blue ring is meant to be? It distracts me every time and instantly makes me think I'm standing in the wrong place or something.

So you know who has the ball. I mean it's pretty absurd. Who else will have the ball? In Baseball its pretty crystal clear who fields the ball! A very noob arcadish addition to a title that touts itself as simulation game.

I am going to step away from the Blue Ring discussion......it is what it is for 14. I am confident it will be righted for 15. As well as the toggle to turn off the HR cam returning as well nest year.

These guys have earned plenty of slack (offline players) we can cut with this amazing game they keep improving year after year after year.

I don't get it. I mean, I understand what you're telling me but I don't get the purpose of the icon. The ball is ALWAYS either being thrown or hit by someone or in someone's glove. (Or in the hands of some moronic person in the crowd who wants to interfere with the game by deciding that their arrogant need for a souvenir matters more than a play that is still going on, often at the expense of their own team). Makes no sense.

Makes no sense.

Apparently the team got some complaints of throw cancelling issues with players turning double plays. I am sure what was happening was they would pre-load the second throw (from the second baseman or SS whomever was getting the toss or throw at second) to first before the fielder with the ball actually made the first throw to start the double play.

So they figured if a player sees the blue icon on player they would know not to load the next throw till that ugly eye sore of a blue icon switched off the player making the initial throw. In the bug report section of The Show Nation (it is a closed report now) the team explained why they made this design decision.

I remember a team member coming on here and explaining how he was voted down on this design decision. He did not want it in...felt the same way we do.

So I am sure they will completely rethink this decision for MLB 15. So I am not fretting about it. I am playing with full on auto fielding and throwing this year and I am a happy camper.

However......I want my option to not have that blue ring on my screen next year back. I like to make throws.....but not at the expense of that ring blaring on my screen and completely taking away the gorgeous appearance of a real game going on. It is so video game........it really takes away from:

So Real It's Unreal.

That Mantra......is now somewhat tainted this year with that decision.


Ok......enough......it is a passionate pet peeve of mine because I love this game like no other and I was shocked this happened. Choices were taken away.

Not like this team at all. Again I am sure it will be cured for next years game along with the HR Cam toggle coming back.

Now......back to playing the greatest sports game in the history of sports games!
