Playing devil's advocate... (for the record, I agree that there should still be the option, I'm not disputing that):

How much drama is there in a HR that clears the wall by 30 or 40 feet? Those are basically what that camera is reserved for - No-doubters that everyone in the ballpark knows is gone as soon as it leaves the bat.

I watched a video of a Stanton HR that's the longest in MLB so far this year. There's no drama. You just know it by the crack of the bat and instant crowd reaction. It's the kind of shot where you'd just immediately throw your fists up in the air (if you're a Marlins fan). In that kind of situation I don't think a camera like the celebration cam is all that mood-killing or spoilery.

I would be stunned if they removed the ability to turn it off on purpose.

I'm guess when reworking the code for this year, they were faced with the question as to whether the resources to work putting this option back in was worth pulling away from something else and decided it wasn't.

I give SCEA the benefit of the doubt when features are involved. I'd be shocked if they gutted it just to gut it.

For me i guess its not so much the drama, but the visual splendor. SCEA really captured the camera view perfectly on the no doubters.

In any event, this should improve the HR visuals.

wonder how its decided when to show the Celebration cam?
is it every 4th HR?

I think since its sticking around in 25% format, it would be good if it popped up for 'carlton fisk' type hrs down the line.

Really wish that we had the option to set it to 0%! I don't think its a lot to ask for the option to turn it off though, I mean we had the option for a long time. Oh well, maybe next year thanks for listening, you guys are the best in the business!

Yes, really must agree that the HR Cam takes away from the game play for me a bit. That pull back camera is very nice and much more impressive and rewarding. I have never really seen the point of the HR Cam. Never in any real broadcast has the camera after a Home run just panned to the catcher, show the guy rounding the base with no regard for the watching the ball fly out of the field.

I just don't understand this decision?

If it was a matter of usage I don't see why you would change it from 100% to 25% when you could just take away the option instead.

What about the people who want to see it on 100% of the no doubters (if they are out there!)? Now they don't have that option either.


My only guess and hope I guess is that they had no idea that people cared about it so much. It was the one thing I went in and changed day one every year, but at the same time I don't see why there would ever have been conversation about it here or any other forums since it was a simple on/off toggle.

I just hope the option is back next year.
