Whats up guys. SOO I've been playing MLB The Show 12 again recently. Long story short, I didn't watch much baseball the 1st half of this season. Unfortunately because I couldn't, not that I wasn't interested. Though I kept up quite well, between highlights, watching the occasional game, stat tracking online. But that has changed! So I've caught up nicely with the current state of MLB over the past 6 weeks. Can watch all games again, often watch 2-3 games almost daily.
And, for the past several months, I've been perfecting the UPDATING of the MLB12 base rosters to best represent current day major league rosters. (couldn't even work with the end-year roster update, had to use the base rosters so I've put in WORK)

As a yankee fan, it all started with me wanting to create Masahiro Tanaka, maybe 3 months back. I did so, & slowly I've created & updated all players who are impactful & of significance, as well as those who are no longer in the league (Halladay, Berkman, Oswalt, Jon Garland, Helton, Zito, Johan Santana ect). In addition, I created tons of real-life prospects to plenish the minors & make fantasy drafts way more fun.

Kershaw, Price, King Felix, Wainwright & Sale received minor upgrades to make them truly Elite. Others too received small edits (ex. Lester, wasn't even A overall) mostly not worth mentioning.

OK. So I did a fantasy draft, landed the 25th pick. The elite pitchers flew off the board, & Trout (despite efforts to NOT let this happen) slipped down to the 14th pick lol. At #25, I picked Giancarlo Stanton (surprise), just made the most sense. Next round, with pitchers flying off the board, I picked Corey Kluber. Had a chance to go Stanton / Cespedes, but it was Kluber or have no true Ace. So Kluber it was. I recently heard some interesting stats about this guy, 2 different accomplishments of his (the details of which I forgot, sorry) where his company was Strausberg + I think King Felix ? then the second was Kershaw + someone else super filthy lol (found the link http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/po...espnapi_public....) also in that link, you learn the guy has the largest horizontal break of all curveballs in the Majors. 10.9' compared to the next closest Wainwright's 8.8' .....damn......

So those 2 are the franchise corner stones, Jose Altuve was the 3rd pick anddd this is how things played out.

Jason Hammel is actually in for R.A Dickey whose out for 2-3 weeks for some sh*t. R.A leads the team with 14 wins lol. Miguel Sano is a Monster. Left handed Miggy. Didn't even intend for him to hit like that, immediately at least. Crush Davis started slow, hitting .220, prompting me to bat Sano clean-up, & Davis 5th, which led to Davis turning things around. Now hitting .277 45 HRs 107 Rbis .333 OBP. Sano is hitting .310 (down from .340) w 35HRs 86 RBI .404 OBP. ...All my starters ERA are above 4 lol. You Can see what Stanton's been up to. & Brantley, leading off is batting .299 w/ .376 OBP. Altuve = .314 12HRs .377 OBP. Trout leads the NL in hitting .334, 29 HRs, 102 RBI's, .390 OBP, 44SB. BILLY HAMILTON HAS 71 STOLEN BASES caught 11 times. **** is so real lmao. OH & it's September 12th. 141 games in. Played 5, twice I hit 6+ bombs w the team. Gattis had a 3 HR game lol. Gattis btw .290 24HRs 56RBI. Edit: Team is 86-55, 4.5 games in front of the Sawx.

Here are a few other guys I've created/edited. You'll notice Abreu has a D potential. That was an accident. But his super high offensive ratings decline at a pretty fair pace. he has 3-5 years of elite production, then turns 30, & drops off. How long can the guy put up #'s that suggests hes the best hitter in baseball anyway? Springer & Machado look exactly the same I just realized lol

Got a question for everyone. I am in my first offseason and hit retired list and bam Y.Puig retired because of an injury ! Would you guys restart franchise? He is a player that should be big part of franchise for years. Have you reloaded retirements? Do they change?

Btw I'm the white sox so not dodgers but feel losing young stars so early kinda kills fun when u wanna see how future plays out.

I don't restart for injuries, although I understand what you are saying. I just roll with it, it sucks when a good player of yours gets injured and has to retire.
In one of my older Astros chises I saw that King Felix retired from injury after the 1st season. I guess I didn't have to play against him anymore but I felt bad for the Mariners lol.

I know its too late for you to do this now, but what I do is check injuries toward the end of the season and any young star that happened to be injured I go in an uninjury them, so they dont retire due to some stupid injury. Of course you have to use 30 team control for this too work.

I have always wished SCEA gave us the option to atleast try an talk a player out of retiring. I know the way the game is set up there are only so many spots for players each yr. Hopefully in the future at some point some of this stuff gets looked in too, and can be made better.

hey just had a question.. any of you guys start a franchise with a team that isn't your favorite? For example I really want to start a franchise with the Astros and build them to be a force. but not being a fan of the Astros I can see myself losing interest. Anyone else ever face this problem? what are some work arounds you used?

After finishing ST'ing 17-10 I felt pretty good heading into the regular season, even with all the injuries.

Unfortunately I start out the season against the Cards, and even with Cueto on the mound I tedn to struggle against the Cards just like my Reds do IRL. Cueto and Wainwright both pitched descent as both got thru 6 innings with the game tied at 3, but both had high pitch counts. I was able to work counts unlike the Reds IRL and draw 5 walks of of Waino. Still tied at 3 going into the 9th I brought Lecure in and he just didnt have it and gave up 3 runs, and Rosenthal came in and closed it out for the Crads as we lose 6-3.

Since I play true to real life injuries and transactions with all the inuries the Reds have had this is going to be quite a test for me this season. Especially not having Chapman closng to start the year will be a challenge. I plan on using a closer by committee with probably Lecure closing the most till Broxton gets back.

Well somehow I got that dam opening day bug from last yr when I went to play game 2 of the season, so I had to start over.

Good news is I actually won on opening day 4-2, but then lst the 2nd game of the season. What really ticks me off is the Cubs were 0-2 to start the season when I got that OD bug, and since I had to start over they are now 2-0, and I despise the Cubs. I usually will save before Cubs games, to sim theirs seperate to make sure they lose to start the season, and then I make sure they lose enough each season to be realistic about it,lol. Seems this game has so many bugs and glitches that I was afraid to do that and get a glitch so Im just playing thru and letting thigns fall where they may, and I usually try to get teams close to their records of that IRL, but dont think I will try that this yr as this game seems to not be to stable, and I dont want to mess things up and have to restart.

What is the OD bug?

When every game after OD presentation is still like that of OD, with players being anounced and standing for the national anthem. Not sure what I did different but since I started over its gone now.

I knew the work aorund last yr for it, but hadnt heard it was a issue this yr, so not sure how I got it this yr, but once I restarted the franchise it was gone thankfully.

Anyone else seeing some odd things in franchise mode with teams that are actually good IRL stinking it up in your chise and bad teams doing well?

I just started a chise and the A's are 0-6, and the Tigers are 0-5. I use the hybrid roster but have it set to openign day with injuries accurate tot hat of real life.

I typically will re sim games to get things close to real life, but dont trust the game stability this yr to do that without it screwing up something, so I have been letting it play out and whoever wins wins.

I do use 30 team control but only play as the Reds but might decide to plays some of teams like the A's and Tigers, and try to get them winning. Dont really want to do that cause I play my minor league teams games, or a lot of them anyway.

Thought about restarting, but hate to do that cause Im OCD about getting my manager and coaches contract close anyway to that of real life as far as years go. Plus I dont want my scouts or farm director to have some weird foreign name, so I tedn to start over until I get normal names for those guys. I have always wondered if Im the only one who does that or if other are like that,lol.

I've been wanting to do a franchise for a while (I've had the show 12 and now 14, but always stick to RTTS). Every time I tend to start a franchise, I get overwhelmed and just not sure how and where I want to go with it. It just seems a daunting process (I don't know if this is the fact that I play on the Vita, or if it would be the same on the other platforms).

I thoroughly enjoy RTTS, much more so than similar modes in other sports games. When it comes to Madden, I'm all about owner/franchise mode (although I do dislike the new connected franchise).

I have "dreams and aspirations" to run a power house team, a smallball/fundamentals team, and/or a budget team. Starting off, should I let the computer handle much of the day to day roster movements, call ups, scouting? Or should I just take it really slowly and control every aspect of my team? Any tips from others who have felt overwhelmed by the prospect but have figured out their own way?
