Curious if they'll fix the issue with editing shoes, where certain teams have locked Graphic 1, Main Body Color, 2nd Body Color & Tongue Color.

Hanging in any PS3 game is generally caused by a HDD write/rewrite command taking longer then expected. This can also occur with a bad PSN connection so always try with the internet disabled from the network settings option in the XMB, not just signed out of PSN. Restoring both the file system and system database are very similar to a defrag and will group the game data together making the read/write/rewrite function faster.

Entering safe mode is different on all ps3 models so google your model for instructions.
Restoring both the file system and system database WILL NOT delete any game data or saves unless they are corrupted and unworking.
Huh. Will try that and get back to you.

Yeah, I'm curious to know as well, it works out 90% of the hanging in most games.

If it doesn't, are you using the HDD that came with your PS3? Seen wierd things with Super Street Fighter 4 with my 500GB HDD, hanging mostly, all went away with my 160 GB factory HDD.

          It didn't work.

I got Safe Mode to work, restored the file system, and fired up the game again.

I played another RTTS game, and the brief freezing happened THREE different times--one of which was on a double-play attempt, and it may have cost me the double play! And that freeze lasted two whole seconds!

Seriously, what is UP with this?!

It still hasn't outright crashed, but this one issue is really, really frustrating!

It may have something to do with the fact that I'm playing the game from a disc this year. I bought last year's game on PSN, and the game took me over 48 hours to download (I have a really slow connection).

And I NEVER had this problem in last year's game. Ever.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, this is the 160-gig factory hard drive. Not a replacement.

Did you restore just the file system or both the file system and database? The database contains the game data cabinet so to speak. The file system is primarily the ID3 tags for mp3's and import dates for photos/videos. It may not be necessary for the file system, but I always do both. (Options 2 & 3 in the safe mode menu)

Do you hear any ticking coming from the blu-ray drive? Have to insert the disc multiple times to get it too read. If you have a read heavy game like Grand Theft Auto 4 or 5, Red Dead Redemption, they will quickly identify a failing drive.

I play from disc and after 20 plus games have never seen a hang.

No, but I'll try that right now. I'll get back to you on that.

Regardless of how it turns out, though, I want to thank you for your help.

              Thanks, man.

No problem at all, and hopefully you'll see some improvement.

                  Still nothing.
It happened three times: in the second inning on a grounder to right, and in the sixth and ninth while in the pitching motion. However, my finger was off the button by the time the stutter happened.

Saints Row 4 needed a nearly-700-MB update, so I can't test that until it finishes.

Getting so sick of countless issues with games. I hardly ever play my PS3 anymore and I shouldn't have wasted my money on this game. Game was fine for the first week I had it. Now online is glitchy and I get disconnected ferry other time. It takes the game 5 minutes to actually boot up and that's if it doesn't freeze on me.

Sorry I'm late--had a family matter to take care of.

Just played another RTTS game. In this one, I only got the hiccup once, on a shortstop's dive for a grounder in either the fourth or fifth inning. He bobbled it (it WAS an attempted diving catch, to be fair--plus it was AAA), but it went down in the books as an infield single.

This is after I'd downloaded the 1.11 patch, too.

It's a shame--I had no idea this game was so read-heavy. I can hear the disc spinning at different speeds and the laser realigning in there. But as I said before, the game would have taken over 48 hours to download on this slow connection of mine.

If it's really my PS3's fault and not the game's, then man, I wish I'd waited out that download after all. (Also, if so, the developers are forgiven, as that was my ONLY gripe with the game so far.)

Oh well. The chances are good I'm getting an HDMI-compatible TV and a PS4 later this year, so if so, I'll gladly take that $20 trade-in offer someone's having to upgrade to the PS4 game.
