While I agree with op have always wondered why the show never added create a stadium /expansion team las gen espicially when diamond dynasty was added would have been perfect time in my opinion.. Maybe on the Ps 4 we will f inially get this feature as I would love to create the Oklahoma City Cardinals in this game would be so awesome ;-) But I will not stop playing or buying this game as long as SCEA gives me reason to upgrade every year ...

Re: My love affair with The Show is over
I'd love an expansion mode.
I am very new to Baseball, but was excited in DD mode to design my 'local' team. Then I found out I could not use them in the game for a franchise and was a bit disappointed.
The game is great, and I'm having fun playing my Marlins franchise, but it would be even better to be able to create my own team from my own home town and manage them to success.
What we do in single player mode doesn't affect anyone else, so I see no problem with them adding the possibility for us to use the already existing DD Team Creation mechanics to play a 162 season.
Millions of us already do this in other sports games just because it's "fun", which is after all why we play games.Comment

I'm on board. I fricken love making teams! Ever since Baseball Stars on NES, Remember that one? (Not to be confused with the previously mention All-Star Baseball) I think every game should do what NCAA Football did and allow you the ability to upload your own logos too. I hope for good team/player creation in every sports game.Comment

Re: My love affair with The Show is over
I will continue to buy the show because I love the little refinements that are made year-to-year. I especially can't wait to see how it improves year-over-year for the next couple iterations on the PS4. I'm sure that a lot of what fans have been asking for will be implemented on there soon enough.
And I certainly hope that an expansion mode is one of those imporovements that gets put in soon. I think that it sounds like a fantastic idea. Especially now that we can carry over saves which means that I could theoretically play the first 50 to 100 to 1,000 seasons with my brand new team. I can't think of a more incredible experience that could be worked into a sports game.
I saw in an interview a few months ago that Ramone was discussing "Create-a-Ballpark" with the interviewer. He seemed to indicated that it would be somewhere on the list of possible additions which to me means that an expansion mode would almost certainly either be a part of that or be added the year or so after create-a-ballpark. The two seem to go together like a hand and glove. Plus they already have the uniform creation tool in Diamond Dynasty which is really they only reason that I even touch DD any given year haha.
I think it mostly right now would come down to having to rework a lot of logic in order to create enough players for 32 teams as well as making sure that scheduling logic worked out perfectly and that having more teams didn't break Free Agency or trade logic or anything like that. I'm sure that there is a ton of work to be done on the logic side of things. Also it would have to be able to handle an expansion draft appropriately without breaking anything. Hopefully the increased capabilities of the PS4 would make those kinds of logic changes a little more workable. I would be willing to bet that this is the single biggest hurdle to jump for us to see an expansion mode. Especially now that...
This year they rebuilt all of the major league parks from scratch on the PS4 I would say that they probably have worked a lot on their stadium creation tools over the last couple of years. If they can refine them and make them user (and controller) friendly soon I would imagine that that would help speed along an expansion type mode as well. I think we'll see it soon. Maybe not next year, but soon.
Of course this is all speculation so we will see. But I'm hoping that I'm right at least.
TLDR version: the fact that they already have an excellent uniform editor, the guess that their stadium creation tools have been reworked and could possibly become more user friendly as a result, the increased power of the PS4 to handle the under-the-hood changes that would be required in an expansion mode, and little hints dropped in an interview about a "create a ballpark" feature all lead me to believe that we will see an expansion mode within the next few years.Comment

Re: My love affair with The Show is over
I feel for the OP. But I also agree with the person who posted that it's just hard to add in everything since so many people want different things. Personally, I don't care all that much about creating your own teams because I'm more into mimicking reality and Franchise mode (although that may change if I actually tried it), but there are other things I would love for them to have, which, as the OP says, would require them to think out of the box:
1) making editing a lot easier by making us able to combine one player's lower half with another player's upper half. or making us able to speed up or slow down a batter's bat movement, etc. that, combined with all the various stance/delivery options, would essentially allow us to get the perfect stance/delivery for every player.
2) giving the players personalities like in NBA2K. i've mentioned this in past years' games, but how cool would it be to have some players with fiery personalities, others with laid-back, etc., and then the post-play animations would change based on that. would also be super cool to control a player's post-play animations. for example if papelbon blows a save, it shows him go back to the dugout and then u can push X to kick the bench, or triangle to push over a water cooler, etc. That idea would really add to the immersion.
3) in terms of reliving our childhood memories, I would love an option for a homerun camera that is basically on the homerun ball, just like Triple Play had back in 2000. I loved "being the ball" on a homerun and being able to follow the flight of the ball and look down at the the shrinking field/players.
See? Point is, there are so many different things that so many different people want, and maybe if they add each one each year, we can have everything by 2020.Comment

Re: My love affair with The Show is over
I prefer the realism of The Show, its game play and new graphics over an old games ability to have expansion mode. Those old games had very little going for them compared to todays games so programming was much simpler and "easier" to do. I get people wanting more and wanting it added but I dont understand the stupid comments of "this old game did it, why cant the show" nonsense irks me. The havent added most of this complex stuff because the games a million times more complicated...the games is a million times bigger and a million times more realistic in every other way. I will however enjoy a "create-a-stadium" or expansion mode if and when they make.Comment

Re: My love affair with The Show is over
Game modes aren't a big deal for me, but there are a few things that do bother me.
As a dedicated player of the game (it is easily my favorite sports game), it is hard to ignore seeing a lot of the same animations I saw nearly five years ago still looking the exact same in more recent games. There's still only a handful of swing animations, which is too bad given that it is what you see the most. The commentary has been the same, so hearing the same lines over and over again takes away from the authenticity of listening to a broadcast.
I love the core gameplay, and I think that by next year on the PS4, we'll probably see the series look vastly different. If that's not the case, I'll probably just pass on the game and wait until they make one that does look a lot different. It's nothing against The Show, it's just a result of time.Writer for Operation Sports

Re: My love affair with The Show is over
I dunno...I feel a lot of times games get too bloated with too many half-assed features. Not saying that SCEA would make a Create-a-Team poorly, but I'm a firm believer that you take care of what you have in front of you before going all out toward something that's more of a "want." Look at EA Sports game nowadays, sans FIFA, as an example. Many of the modes they have are great in theory, but the execution is poor and the core gameplay overall suffers because of the attention to these features and modes.Comment

i say they get rid of online, and just work on the offline aspect of the game. The game would be amazing next year.Comment

Re: My love affair with The Show is over
How about something simple. Just being able to move your batter around in the batters box. I mean instead, of worrying about expansion, lets get something simple like that added to the game. Being able to step closer to the plate or move away from it, how hard could that be to add. It's something that should have been added a long time ago, or from day one actually.Comment

Re: My love affair with The Show is over
Does anyone miss the old player cards? With the real picture of the player? I wouldn't even call them player cards anymore....more like player profiles. I miss seeing the real images and the flip animation to the stats on the back. Wish they never took it out....they have to bring it back.Comment
