I really liked that feature and have never seen it in any other baseball game.
It does exist in Konami's Pro Yakyu Spirits BB game. Works for sac flies taking the extra base all of that. Not a big fan of it myself.

However, when you play it now, after so many years of The Show... I can see why EA bowed out.

I have never been a "Turbo" or Sprint kind of guy, but that is just my opinion. I never wanted to have the button mashers have additional input, especially online, because Yadier Molina is NEVER going to beat out a ball at shortstop in real life, but with some 11 year old kid putting the controller in his lap, and finger mashing it for all he's got, just takes away the realism of the game, and also requires the owner/user to make strategic substitutions in delicate situations, as opposed to leaving a better defensive player in the game, who is as slow as a sloth, because you can override his slow-ness with button mashing. Again, not my thing, but others may enjoy it.

My comment about being fixable with sliders is that the default runner speed is too high out of the box, across the board. So, with the fantastic animation, where the player has to collect the ball, plant his foot, and pushoff and throw to first (like real life) you see too many batters beating out a play, when it would never happen in real life.

A ball seep in the hole at short, okay I get that. BUt a cleanly fielded grounder, step and throw, and you have a 3-rated speed guy beating the throw by a step is unrealistic.

Also, the default outfielder speed is too fast, thereby causing a rift in the time-space relationship with runners who get to the bases too quickly, and fielders who get to balls in the gap, that they would never ever get to.

If interested in trying something a little closer to real life, with regards to ALL of the timings, arm strengths, fielding animations, attributes playing a role in the outcome, and balls and runners arriving at their destination a bit closer to how the game actual plays out, see my slider set in the Sliders section of the Last-Gen Thread above.

      http://www.operationsports.com/forum...rs-2014-a.html

This alleviates the issue of the animations giving away hits, but you'll need to play smart baseball, and position for fellas to make plays.

      Enjoy.

Yadier Molina is very slow. If there was a sprint button I'm pretty sure he still wouldn't be out the throw. If they had a sprint button it would be cool if you held down the the button (or tapped) the runner would run 100% of his speed, but if you didn't he would just run 50% with a jog animation. Molina at 100% is maybe a 10 speed (attribute). He's not beating out any throw.
Edit: I will give your sliders a shot. They look good to me

Well they never "bowed out". EA secured a exclusive licensing agreement with the NFL/NFLPA preventing any other game besides their Madden line, from using the real teams, logos, players, etc.

So another company reached a sort of exclusive licensing deal with MLB/MLBPA which prevented EA from using the real teams, stadiums, logos, players, etc.

That is why the last MVP game (MVP '06) was only NCAA teams and players, and had no connections to MLB or MiLB.

Had EA been able to continue at the rate they were going they would probably be level with MLB: The Show, if not ahead.

Sometimes a batter will hit a ball to the shortstop and the SS double pumps and then makes the throw across the diamond. The animation looks great, really realistic, and then... the runner is safe at 1st because the throw was late. It looks like a play that would happen in real life and the runner in real life is almost always out.
The problem here is that every base runner goes all out on every ball in play. Isn't that how every player should be? Yes, but that's not how they play. If they hit a ground ball they know they will be out on, they then just trot on towards 1st not really trying too hard.
So I have thought of an attribute that The Show could use to help this and make it even more realistic. Te attribute would be called "Effort" or something along those lines. Every player is different so it would be cool if SCEA could rate them on how hard they would try in these situations. Of course if the ball was going to be a double every runner runs hard so it would just be about infield ground ball situations. If a player has a 99 then he would run out every ball put in play, but if they have a lower rating they just trot towards the base. Just thought this was a cool idea. Any other ideas or expand on this idea?

I have always thought they should add in a hustle attribute rating. Granted the way MLBTS does it is the way every player should play, but that just isnt how its done anymore, very few hustle like Pete Rose. Kids in general now days are just lazy unfortunately.

I would like to also see a stamina rating added in as well so they would split up it and durability rather than having them tied together. Cause the way they have been doing it isnt right, and its hard to lower brittle players like Tulo down to where he should be durability wise because the AI will sub him out too much.
